What tangible thing has changed from last season that will suddenly make this a respectful football team. Very easy answer, "pretty much nothing". Basically we have the same coaches, same players from a very bad football team last year. We have a quarterback that did mostly losing when taking over for Kevin Earl. This team takes close losses against the bad MVFC teams, gets beat soundly by the middle of the road teams and gets completely over matched against the top tier teams in the conference. That will be much the case this year again. By the luck of the draw maybe the Yotes will squeek out one conference win and if they are lucky two. The objective outsider opinion is that this football team is going to do very little to improve. When the administration demands accountibility than we have true hope but until that happens it isn't really much more than false hope. It is completely shocking that this train wreck was allowed one more chance to get back on the tracks only to proceed to the next derailing. The best thing that could happen is that this team finishes 0-8 again in the Valley to do everything possible to ensure there will be sweeping changes next year that should have been done in November. That doesn't sound like a fun proposition but we need a true bottoming out again this year to make sure every fan and administrator understand that there is a big problem. There is only one thing worse than having a bad football team, and that is not realizing we have a bad football team. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I am hopeful that things turnaround for the team this year and we post a winning record. Should we post a similar campaign as we did last year then I will be right there with you. Until then there is nothing to do but give full support.

I'm pretty sure serious fans realize there are changes that need made, and it's likely we will see them come November. But give me a break, the season hasn't even started yet and you're writing this season off as a loss. Act like a fan for now at least. Hell We're tied for first place.

The tangibles would be not using a linebacker at running back or having a linebacker punting like last year. More depth and healthy players. It's easy for fans to think players on their team are better than they are. But the Yotes have had at least one guy get serious consideration or drafted in the NFL the last 5 or 6 years (Huffer, Starr, Compton etc.) It sounds like a couple guys this year will have a shot too. There is some talent there. Its not like we are recruiting pioneer league level players.
I would not be suprised if they went 3-8 this year. But I would also not be suprised if they went 7-4. It's not unrealistic to be excited and hopefull this season will turn out good. I do respect that a large portion of fans have no hope after what we have had to live through the last 4 years.
I have a ton of fun at every game even when we are losing. Can't image what it will be like when we start winning again.

I have some hope that the Yotes stay healthy this year, especially on the O line and Running Back. Consistency at QB will be another key. If Saeger can take the reigns and feel like this is his team, he may flourish. The team needs some young guys to step up. There are a lot of questions, but I see improvement coming this season, just not ready to say whether it is going to be significant improvement or baby steps.
Support the Yotes win or lose!

O line and Secondary make me the most nervous. Both areas that were a big struggle last year, and both critical to success in this league. Those 2 areas will have their work cut out and then some Saturday.

I look forward to the tailgating, fall Saturdays, and the event itself. I've gotten so used to havign a good time at the games and not expecting to win that when it finally does happen it is going to be great. Although, I am not sure that the expectation of winning games may someday ruin the event. I know, sounds weird, but I'm also a Cubs fan.

So at Defensive Tackle and Tight End where it says -OR- does that mean we have a dead heat and it will be a game time decision? If that is the case, does that mean we likely have a solid #3 player who would be able to fill in just as well as a #2 would in other positions? Or, am I just incompetent at reading 2-deeps and -OR- stands for something totally obvious to everyone else but me?

Got it. That's what I was hoping for as it seems to indicate some depth at that position. Thanks for the clarification. One thing that jumped out at me was the size of our secondary. Those are some big boys who know how to scoot. I've got a hunch they'll be much more dialed in than last year.

Does anyone know much about Tacari Carpenter. I remember hearing good things about him coming in and last year as a redshirt. Was hoping to see him listed on the WRs. I do not know much about Nick Meyers but it seems like he's had some good playing time the last couple years and as a senior if he has not put up some numbers by now I was hoping to see Carpenter or even some of the younger guys get a chance. If nothing else for a change of pace or a spark.
