Hey all,
I figured its never to soon to get some conversations going about the upcoming season. I for one am very excited to see USD back on the schedule and it should be a really fun game. I think both of these programs are pretty similar and are really looking to take some big steps forward this year, making this match up all the more important.
Comparables in 2015
N Dakota vs Drake (W 21-18) *Wasn't as close as the score was, but UND had a lot of turnover issues that game. Ugly win.
S Dakota vs Drake (W 52-0)
N Dakota vs UC Davis (W 31-24)
S Dakota vs UC Davis (W 27-17)
N Dakota vs NDSU (L 34-9) *Not a fun one to watch, UND's youth was sorely exposed. The surprise was how NDSU limited our run game, which after that week ended up being our team strength.
S Dakota vs NDSU (W 24-21) * I was at this game, and it was really fun to watch the Yotes frustrate the Fargo dome
FBS Games (Certainly a difference in the competetion level between Wyoming and K. State)
N Dakota vs Wyoming (W 24-13)
S Dakota vs Kansas St. (L 34-0)
UND took a nice step forward last season, first with our first FBS win, then with a much improved record from previous years. Coach Bubba certainly has improved this team in all areas. Defense looks to be very strong this year; our secondary is still the question mark, but we have definitely added some depth and experience. Hoping our boys play with a chip on their shoulders after getting snubbed from the playoffs last season.
Key Players
JR QB - Keaton Studsrud: Consistency will be the question here. Rough patches early in the season, but a very strong finish.
SO RB - John Santiago: FCS All American RB as a true freshman. Links below, show this guys speed. A ton of depth behind Santiago as well.

JR S - Cole Reyes - Tremendous, Hard Hitting Safety. Could be the top safety in the Big Sky next season, if not the FCS.
Front 7 - Our run D is very stout, with a lot of depth. Definitely the strength of this defense.
Question Marks:
WR: UND did not have a great passing game last season. Improved towards the end, and could be better this year with some new additions, but still a lot to prove.
Secondary: Aside from Cole Reyes, our D-backs struggled last season (see our loss to MT, yikes). Though this group was extremely young and thin. Should be improved this year, but still a lot to prove.
Looking forward to the upcoming season and talking some more football! We start with @stony Brook then @ Bowling Green ... then all eyes are on the Yotes.
