So what do you guys think the pros and cons of a possible UND move might be? My concern is the conference is getting to heavily west sided, which will upset the eastern schools. Just my opinion.

The Summit needs good members regardless of their location and UND is a very good member for the Summit. The Summit needs to be about stability and UND is not going to come in looking to leave. They fit the footprint by far better than they would in any other conference. The western half of the Summit is the driving force behind the league. If you count the number of fans that care about their programs by far the western half is going to win out. I don't know what that means for the eastern schools but they need to pony up themselves to keep up with what the newer schools are doing. I am not going to worry about the ramifications if this league starts to get TOO desirable for the eastern schools. If they can't keep up then maybe they need to go down a division. We aren't going to keep the bar low so Western Illinois, IUPUI and IPFW feel like they can still compete or belong. The core of the conference moving forward is USD, SDSU, NDSU, Omaha and maybe UND. Oral Roberts and Denver should definitely not feel they are too good for the Summit and if they want to keep their profile high the growing Summit shouldn't be a bad thing for them.

I believe UND in the Summit is a pro in every way. It gives this conference a very strong core along the I-29 corridor and raises the level of competition on average. UND in the MVFC is only necessary because that conference needs a stable Summit, unless this is a precautionary move in anticipation of a member leaving. 11 members isn't ideal but not too much. The Big 10 made it work for 20+ years.

If I am USD and I add a sport I want to add one that SDSU doesn't already have. They already have sports that USD doesn't have. It's time for USD to build their own nitch whatever that should be and get some attention that doesn't have to be shared. I personally think Lacross would be kind of cool and if not then I am all in on hockey if it could be afforded. Maybe there is a reason for this but I noticed that there seems to be more room between the seats and the basketball court on the side with the Corr Trust area. Definately more than on the side of the court where the players benches are for volley ball. It seems too small for hockey but does anyone know if the SCSC could fit hockey in there. This would be awesome! I am all for the growth of hockey in the NCAA. I've said for years that I would love to see NDSU pick up that sport as well. Though mention that on BV, and you get chastised. Unfortunately it is an expensive sport to start up, which is why so many schools don't do it. Really pumped about the idea of moving to the MVFC and Summit; we'll see if it all goes through. BV is not happy, though I've talked to plenty of Bison fans who have wanted this for a while as well.
