Typically the league MVP (or most any mvp-type award) goes to the best player on the team that finishes first. Sometimes it goes to a player who is on a second place team or even the third place team if it is a phenomenal season. Assuming the standings finish as they are right now, that narrows it down to NDSU, USD, and Denver (and would rule out Daum, Evans, & Konchar). The three teams at the top are there because they play the best D and a full-team approach to O.
So, who do you think wins it?

I still think one of those 3 you listed will win it.

Has to go to Daum. The bunnies would not have won a single conference game without him.

Daum is a beast and would be well deserved. However if you look past the basic stats and get into the advanced stat metrics then Konchar blows him away and Mooney is right there with him. Daum has a very high usage rate which leads to his high point total. The same also crushed him on his high turnover rate. The advanced metrics really punish him for his defense. He has a negative rating on defense. Flack actually has a higher BPM than Daum but doesn't have enough games under his belt in conference to challenge for the MVP.

Daum will win it, but if we win the conference I think it would be a shame Mooney didnt win it, especially when you look past the stat line and look at what he has done in end of game situations.

With all the hype and buzz--locally and nationally--Daum has gotten throughout the season, I'll be shocked if it's not him. Do the coaches vote on league MVP or does the media?
Either way, I will be beyond surprised if anybody besides Daum gets it.

Not sure who actually votes for it. Mooney won't be in the running since a) it is his first year in the league and b) only people who pay close attention to USD will know that he takes over at the end of games. (Just to pick on a local example, my guess is that not even Matt Zimmer would know that is a Mooney thing, so how would you expect the beat writer for ORU to know?)
Konchar would get my vote - the guy plays every facet of the game fantastically. But only taking good shots or guarding the other teams best player doesn't show up in the easy stats (points per game, etc.). Maybe advanced stats show this stuff?

Ok, after reviewing the analytics, I change my pick to Konchar. He's good and stuff.

Mooney is the MVP of the league in my mind. If SDSU had a better record it would be Daum. Both are phenomenal players in the Summit. Kudos to both guys.

Is Mooney even our MVP? I think Flack has a very good argument for that title.
Will there be anyone on the All-Newcomer team that isn't a Coyote?

If Flack didn't miss a month I'd say he's the team MVP but that honor has to go with Mooney. Flack has more of an all-around game. We're very lucky to have both of them.

Tyler's injury will keep him from winning that award unfortunately, but he's been a presence since returning, no doubt.

If the award was "MVP of the top team in the conference" it would be a different story. My vote is Daum any day and every day. When I look at MVP I look at how a team would fair without that player. The Jacks would slip the most without Daum then any team would slip without their top player. Daum worries opposing coaches more then any other player. Who knows about his efficiency numbers but he needs to carry the load for the Jacks and probably is forced to take many double team shots because he is by far their best player. No Daum would equal no Summit League tourney for the Jacks.
Flack is a good player no doubt but the Coyotes proved they could win without him which really is an endorsement of the Coyotes as a team. Hagedorn isn't Flack but when he needed to he stepped up. I supposed on the Coyotes I would vote for a co MVP with Flack, Mooney and Hurst. The heart and soul of the team in Hurst in my opinion. He is one of the best defenders in the Summit and does the dirty work for the Coyotes. I remember some big time rebounds he had where he leaped it seems like 5 feet in the air to get a board. I don't remember a Summit player of his height go up as high as he does for a rebound. Hurst definitely makes his case for the most athletic and hard nosed in the Summit.
