My guess would be that he had little reason to care about the goings on at USD until the football team started making some noise. I enjoy seeing a fan of a school outside the Dakotas stop by for a change. I've only really swung by the week prior to us playing you guys. I suppose that makes me a poser. The posy I quoted made you seem like one. This last post doesn't. We're all good now.

In all honesty; I'm new to MVFC football so didn't know what to expect against Drake. I know a few players from our HS team that are good but ended up going to D2 or D3 programs so I took them as legit... I was expecting a loss at BG but hoping for the best and the MEN did good...could have been better but it's the second game of the year... now this game...UND is a legit, ranked 10 team. I agree with most of all the other posts that this is the game that will tell us where our team is. The biggest thought I have going into this game is that team success gets fans in the stands and the more fans in the stands the more success a team has. I'm afraid the support just isn't there yet and the team is going to have to suck it up and just WIN THIS GAME!!! ...and if they build it...they will come!!!! Let's go Yotes...go out there and win this! I'm from a state that has a 80k plus stadium that is sold out and has a 60 year waiting list and a college team that has a 80k plus stadium that all season tx are also sold out so I just don't get how a college team cen't get a little more attendance than the HS our son went to??? ...and if USD does win this game and the fans still don't get on board, you're going to read much different posts from me. I ask everybody go out and support your team this week. I hope I wasn't wrong in supporting my son that this is the place he should go. It's kind of hard to compare Lambeau Field and Packers fans to USD. U of Wisconsin also has no other large school in the area. Wisconsin has 5.7M people compared to SD's 865k. I hope people show out every game, but numbers wise it can't compare.

If I missed some of your posts earlier that made it clearer, I would have thought you were an over confident USD fan that didn't take UND seriously, which I don't think we have any of.

In other news, there are 56 people on-line viewing this board at 10:35 p.m. on a Monday night?!?! I think the Coyote football team has gotten some people's attention. Keep it up boys!

However, our HS does seat 10k and it's usually full, if not sold out for a good matchup.

I like having guests from other schools post on our board and bring a perspective to the talk leading up to the game itself. I'm glad UND is joining the Valley next year. They are a damn good team, one that we cannot take for granted. It's going to be a total fist fight Saturday.
Regarding the strength of the leagues, I don't honestly think there's a question the Valley is the premier league. From top to bottom. In the Big Sky, it's UND and Weber State in my opinion. After that the league drops off. That doesn't take away the talent UND has. Looking forward to an old school battle. May the best team win ( us )

What's the passing game like? I recall UND having a very good, elusive running back, but not much about the rest of the offense.

It's light years ahead of where it was when we last played. QB Studsrud was terrible to start the season last year. He's been really sharp so far this year. Our WRs are a lot more experienced and physically developed as well. We had two true fr last year that were our top two wr against you guys. They had a year in the weight room and look much improved. We also had a transfer who wasn't ready to contribute until about game 5 so you never saw him last year. Santiago is the RB you're thinking of. We also have 220lb Olivera who is our leading rusher right now and 230lb Johannesson who transferred from the Gophers. Our OL has 2 senior OTs and fr so jr for the interior guys. Not sure what to think of them since MSU isn't a great test and Utah has an unreal DL with probably 6 future NFL guys.

At this level, almost every team has a hard time filling the stadium on a regular basis. Big games and rivalry games will draw a big crowd. Other games won't. It's part of playing FCS football. A lot of us on this board played here and know what a difference it makes when the dome is packed, but you have to be able to play your game regardless of the number of butts in the seats. The MVFC is a very competitive league and is a very high level of play compared to other FCS conferences. We have great fans and I think you'll be impressed by the atmosphere both at the game and at the tailgate.

I would say considering the track record of the program over the past quarter-century and being in a town of about 10,000 the Coyotes are very lucky to draw about 8K a game as they have been now for well over 10 years. For SD Coyote fans it takes a lot for them to be motivated. Women's basketball proved that when they hit it fairly big in the WNIT the fans came out. They came to Kearney NE in 2008 as well when the team made the elite 8. For football we have now gone through a full generation plus of having for the most part losing football. 1 playoff year in 30 years is a substantial drought. If the Coyotes can get just a little sustained success and develop a tradition I think the fans will come out. On the other hand we have had discussions on this board before regarding the day and age that we are in and that fans have much more to do now a days then go to a live game. I think there is nothing better than a live game myself and being in a loud environment but many don't share that opinion.
