That’s a beauty too because of the strangle hold they had on the running game

The ref has been slurring his words all day. That might explain some things

This crew seems to be as confused about PI as most crews are about targeting. It has become ridiculous.
Geesh - another one against us, this time a blown no-call to Frederick in the end zone.

Can't really put this on officiating. We lost this one in the trenches

About 1,000 yds in combined total offense! Setback but not the end of the world. Looked like the 2 pt spread was about right until the ‘Yotes didn’t finish that drive in the 4th 🤕

Way too sloppy today. Too many penalties, bad tackling, couldn’t run the ball, dropped INT opening possession, dropped passes. All adds up to a loss.

Super excited for CFs 3 page analysis of the game. Game started poorly with the dropped int. Absolute awful tackling. Offense looked very average. Yes the refs were poor, but we bailed them out with some PI calls on defense. Questionable calls but we made contact. Wake up call. Time to play with some more intensity. Not going to get easier.

One thing that was very effective for the Redbirds was defense injuries whenever we had the offense rolling... 3 different times - same player twice and he was back on the field each time shortly after his "injury"...
Frustrating loss... seemed like an up hill battle the entire game.
Regroup and win in the Dome next weekend.

What horrible football that was today. This was nothing more or nothing less than the Coyotes simply not being mentally ready to play at a high level today. That was not proven any more than the bad tackling and giving up a million yards rushing today. Bad tackling led to probably half of the yards that Illinois State racked up. The defense was brutal. On offense there were dropped passes that haven't been happening this year and Steveler was being rushed all afternoon long. The protection was bad. Why the Coyotes continue to run Frederick right at the gut of the Red Birds defense I will never know.
These games unfortunately happen and this one hurts because a top 5 team cannot lose a game like this. This really hurts the effort to try to get a top 8 seed. I believe the game at Northern Iowa in 2 weeks will go a long ways to determine whether USD is seeded or not. I think the Yotes bounce back next week but the game in Cedar Falls is crucial especially for tie breaker purposes.

That was...out of character. Right from the start we had Rambo drop a gift, and that really set the tone for the rest of the day. Not blaming Rambo, but everyone seemed off. Not sure what the heck happened today. Coaching staff has a week to figure it out and get back on track by blowing the doors off Southern Illinois.

As bad as they played they were still probably 3 or 4 plays from winning this game
