As bad as they played they were still probably 3 or 4 plays from winning this game That is true but moral victories are no longer a part of this program.

There is one thing that the football program has yet to solve and that will be the challenge that lies ahead. They haven't had a chance to as of yet this year but the last 4 conference games of the season (all MVFC games) have produced an absolute brutal record over the years. I believe they have never gone better then 1-3 over that stretch but I am not sure. To be fairly certain of a playoff seed the Coyotes will need to go 3-1 over that stretch and assuming a loss at NDSU they will have to beat S Illinois, at UNI, and SDSU.

That was...out of character. Right from the start we had Rambo drop a gift, and that really set the tone for the rest of the day. Not blaming Rambo, but everyone seemed off. Not sure what the heck happened today. Coaching staff has a week to figure it out and get back on track by blowing the doors off Southern Illinois. This.

On the way home after the game. I'm not going to blame a loss on officiating but it was terribly bad...our D Line was being held with 2 hands every play. I was and am still very pi$$ed!
As for the loss... better now than later. Fire sharpens the sword! We had weaknesses exposed that will be corrected. Better now than in the 1 n done playoffs! Does this hurt us? Imho, not much.
Give them boys a big hug when u see them! They're going to learn a lot from this and this will only help them get deeper into the playoffs.
Btw... had an opportunity to talk to Charlie and might be on the sidelines with that dog this next game. Go Yotes!!!

It is hard winning on the road in this conference. Should we have won today? Yes, I think we laid an egg. But this is a reminder that if you do not bring your A-game every week you can get beat. This does not end the season, in fact, the coaches can use this loss as a great motivational tool for the rest of the year. Prepare each week, bring our A-game, and everything will be fine.

Good learning experience for the team and coaches.

We all know this has been a breakthrough year and has been very satisfying but lets not pretend that this loss doesn't hurt because it does. I would rather have a win any day then a lesson learning loss especially with only 11 games on the year. The only way this loss doesn't hurt is if USD runs the table and finishes 10-1 and is either seeded 1 or 2 because then they would have home field in the playoffs as long as they are alive. The loss today makes it a little more likely that there will be another or two before the season is over.
This is the way I look at it. The Coyotes are new to this potential playoff thing. When it comes to a committee deciding our fate the fact that we haven't been here before might have some influence. It shouldn't but it might. A team that maybe has a slightly worse overall resume may get the nod and cause the Coyotes to not get a seed or maybe not get a home playoff game.
Some may say it is ok to just make the playoffs as the program made such a jump this year. That may be true to a point but what if the Coyotes are never able to repeat this type of a year and maybe never quite figure out a way to replace Steveler. Maybe this is that special type of a year where we need to take advantage of the spot we are in. I tend to believe that as long as Nielson is here we should be in good shape but when it comes to a coach staying there is no guarantee what a coach will do. In fewer words we need to make the most of where we are at this year.
You never know this loss could be the difference in playing a team like James Madison at home or at their place in a potential semi-final match up. I don't know about anyone else but I wouldn't mind a game like that being in Vermillion. Things tend to go differently when playing away from home and that is considering that the Coyotes are way better away from their place then they have been for a long time.
I personally wanted the Coyotes to stay undefeated as long as possible. I was kind of hoping (and I know that was almost a best case senario) that they would win every game except maybe in Fargo. So the Coyotes lost today and those things happen and they will move on just fine but I would have MUCH rather had a nice comfortable win today then to see what we did out of South Dakota. I do tip my hat to Illinois State as they were the better team today.

Rest assured in the fact the Coyotes are by far a better team... they just have to believe it theirself.

Keep in mind... as much as this loss sours me/us, I can't imagine how it hurts our boys. Be cool... this is their lives and they live it every day and they work to do the best they can. Do each of us have 100% success all the time in our lives?

I, like all the rest of us, just expected 1 loss this year to NDSU. I guess the team used the loss in this game so they'll have to kick NDSUs butt again this year to keep the 1 loss expectation? Give the boys a break! Isn't the year such a chicken gift to us? (If u agree I will guarantee a phenomenal year). TRUST THIS TEAM!!!

For those of you new to the board I recommend not reading "fair weather" coyote fan's nonsense (I haven't for more than a year)!! He is not a real cf at all! I bet he has 32 favorite NFL teams depending on who's winning! And I for one don't watch the national for (protest) league anymore anyway! So cf you can have them all!
