I would tend to think that most fans with a talented team would be confident enough to say when. I guarantee players are saying it in the lockeroom. Both teams should be expecting a win. So if you take offense to the confident tone of Zims chat I urge you to read past posts on this board about your team. I expect the Jacks to hoist the “little brown jug” just as confidently as thebacksackdad expects his son and the Yotes to raise it. Do some people become negative about their teams chances? Sure, but if you’re a fan of a ranked team, you expect to win. If u were a chic I'd kiss ya! Nice comment! if you were a chick (and a Jacks fan, jk, I wouldn’t want my arrogance to shine through) I might let you. To answer the arrogance point. I feel confident almost every game, I honestly feel they have the chance. Last year against TCU they hung in for a while...the MBB hung in with Gonzaga for the most part. A few years ago I thought the FB team would get their first FBS win over Illinois. It ended up being a trouncing. It didn’t matter what I thought. There are plenty of doom and gloom Jack fans, expecting the team to lay an egg. Are there arrogant fans as well? Sure, as I stated in an earlier post on this board, every fan base has their share of jerks. I was on the chat yesterday, call it blue glasses but I saw fans chatting about what aspects the Jacks need to do to win the game. I did not read Mick’s chat so immcant speak to that. Again, here’s to a competitive contest with little to no injury.

The home field advantage debate had some legs this year and that's a good thing. It needs to be dusted off for this game. My objective analysis through the Game Analyzer Mechanism yields:
PROJECTED WINNER: tie USD 30 SDSU 30 SPREAD: 0 OVER/UNDER: 60
With a fade in process at USD and a revitalized Jacks squad roaming the prairie this game has gone from and early season USD +10 to a virtual tie. If you are seeking a reliable and accurate guide for Saturdays outcome you must enter the realm of the intangables.
There is no conference title in USDs' 2017 future so a first round playoff game seems likely with a win. A playoff birth is at stake for USD. A win will tie the Yotes with SDSU and give them the tie breaker with 3 losses each.
The game is at home. The Dakota Dome is a fortress.
Its a rivalry game. They say you can throw the record book out the window. The GAM shows a tie. Take USD, give no points and go under the 60.
It's going to be a heck of a tailgate! Go Yotes!

I crunched the numbers, and the Dome was indeed a factor this season for the Yotes. Yes, our toughest games were away, but in every stat I looked at, The Yotes out-performed the season average for every opponent we faced. The only exception was Southern Illinois passed for 3 more yards than their average.
Other than that we held all the teams below their own average in every major stat. And outscored and out-gained their defensive averages.
I feel good about our chances.

Predicition time
All week I have been thinking about 2 different scenarios playing out. I am going to outline both of them but the second one is my actual prediction.
Senario 1 - alternate scenario which is not my prediction but it doesn't get edged out by my actual prediction by much. The Jacks have owned the Coyotes in the main sports and many have been heart breaking losses for the Coyotes. It just seems like the breaks consistently go the Jacks way in the common sports but much of that has to do with them just being better but not all the time. They are 3-0 against the Coyotes at the Summit Tourney when the Coyotes are the higher (better) seed. The way the football program has had bad break after bad break go against it for years this would be the ultimate punch to the gut.
I think the Coyotes get out to a decent sized lead such as 35-21 going into the 4th quarter. At one point I think the Coyotes will actually be ahead 21-0 and possibly after the first quarter. Everything will be smelling like red roses. Then the 4th quarter strikes and the Jacks come back as the Coyotes start to kind of panic. The Jacks score two touchdowns to tie the game at 35-35. The Coyotes get the ball back with about 2:30 minutes left. They drive down the field but turn it over inside the Jackrabbit 20. The Jacks get it with a minute left and drive down the field and hit a 45 yard field goal at the buzzer. The Coyotes train officially goes off the rails and they miss the playoffs despite many saying they should have probably been in. It goes down as the biggest end of season collapse in MVFC history. The questions have to be answered for the next 9 months.
Senario 2 - This is my actual prediction for what will happen tomorrow. The crowd will be at a fever pitch. The loudest crowd that the dome has housed in a long long time. The Coyotes get the ball and score in 4 plays with a 50 plus yard touchdown pass to a wide open receiver on a blown coverage. The Jacks get the ball and the crowd flusters Taryn Christian and the Jacks and on third and long the Coyotes get an interception. They start in Jacks territory and less than 4:00 into the game the Coyotes lead 14-0 and it's pandemonium in the dome. The game begins to settle down a little but the Jacks are having a much tougher time with the Coyote defense than almost anyone could have predicted. Both teams get a touchdown and the Coyotes lead 21-7 after one quarter. In the second quarter the Jacks have the ball and catch a bad break. Jake Weineke is wide open for a certain long touchdown but drops a wide open pass. The Jacks end up punting and the Coyotes respond and go up 28-7. The Coyotes get one touchdown and the Jacks get a field goal and the Coyotes lead 35-10 at half.
In the second half the Jacks get the ball first and score on a long drive to cut it to 35-17 capped off by a Dallas Goddard 25 yard touchdown catch where he runs over and through 2 Coyote defenders. The Coyotes respond in the third quarter by scoring another touchdown and tack on their final score to start the 4th quarter to take a 49-17 lead. The Jacks go into hurry up mode and end the game with 2 touchdowns to make the score 49-31 in a game that was never really in a whole lot of doubt. Most of the good luck breaks go the way of the red and white.
The Coyote defense plays very well but does give up a couple of long plays. The Coyotes almost completely shut down the Jacks running game only giving up 140 yards on the ground but most of them to Christian. He is under pressure for a good portion of the first 3 quarters with a couple sacks against and a lot of hurries. The total yards are 610-395 with most of that 610 coming in the first three quarters and 150 of the Jacks yards in the 4th quarter. The fans leave the Dakota Dome to high fives and big smiles on their faces as the Coyotes finally break the SDSU jinx.

Wasn't sure what to think of the post in the beginning but absolutely love that you're on board with a COYOTE win this weekend! I do think we break that jinx. I actually think this is THE GAME OUR COACHES CIRCLED ON THEIR CALENDAR AT THE BEGGING OFF THE YEAR THAT IF THE COYOTE WERE TO TAKE THAT NEXT STEP... THEY MUST WIN THIS GAME AND STARTED PREPARING FOR THIS GAME AS SOON AS THE SEASON ENDED LAST YEAR! I ha be a suspicion... this game is what they recruited for and what the coached to since then.
It reminds me of the Packers after Favre went to the Vikings and they became their criptonite. The next year they devoted 15 minutes of every practice every day and every week simulating playing the Vikings. Smart? Well they kicked the crap out of them that year.
What gives me confidence in this game is our staff is just that smart as well. Who knows? Maybe that's why we tanked last week. Maybe... somehow... they had this game in their heads too much?
However, I am personally taking the responsibility for last week's loss. They had me in the nosebleeds and as much as I tried... could not get closer to the field. Had 5-O behind the ushers...THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN THIS GAME!!!
GO COYOTES!!! BOOM SHAKALAKA BOOM!!!

BSD,
Your luck is needed more than ever. I think you are going to pull it off because I think the breaks will fall the way of the Yotes.
