I saw a stat the other day that USD has 9 players with 16 or more catches or something close to that (only team in the nation). I can't seem to find it now.
EDIT: Found it

Quick Hits -South Dakota's seven wins are its most since 2006 when the team finished 9-2 -USD's last win vs. SDSU was a 41-28 decision in Brookings in 2000 (0-8 since) -The Coyotes' last win over the Jacks in Vermillion came in 1997 (0-5 since) -Eight straight wins equals the longest streak in the series' history (USD, 1935-1942) -Saturday's winner may determine who gets a first-round bye and a second-round home game -The FCS playoff selection show is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday on ESPNU -Chris Streveler needs 100 yards passing to break USD's single-season record of 3,049 (And missed almost a full game) -USD's offense at 513.5 ypg would establish an MVFC single-season team record (502.7, Southern Illinois, 2004) -USD's defense ranks fifth nationally for TFL (85) and 10th for sacks (32) -Only two teams nationally have committed fewer turnovers than the Coyotes' eight (7, San Diego, Grambling State)

As usual...off work tomorrow to make the pilgrimage to "da dome" ...so this is my Friday! As usual...I'm stoked!
NOT as usual...is the place is going to be rocking like never before!!! NOT as usual is we get to kick some bunny booty around like they haven't experienced before!!! PETA better stay far away from this game!!!
Personally, I think nothing would get the taste out of mouths that we have right now better than some hot rabbit stew. (Still haven't been able to find any for tailgating but I'll guarantee its on the grille next year).
BOOM SHAKALAKA!!!

In that podcast Brian McLaughlin had some interesting comments on the Coyotes and Jacks and what kind of a situation they might find themselves in.
He thought if USD lost they would still have a good chance to make it but did admit that they might have to compare against some 9 wins teams from weaker conferences and did mention the late season record. He thought with a win that the Coyotes would have a good shot at one of the lower top 8 seeds. He thinks the Jacks would probably just miss a seed if they lose. He didn't mention where the Jacks would be with a win. I am guessing around #5 but with their recent play I think they deserve a top 4 seed.

I just got done reading both the SDSU and USD chats on the Argus. My gosh are the Jacks fans over confident IMO. The slant of the chat was more like "when" we win not "if" we win. Even Zimmer talks as if it is a foregone conclusion that the Jacks will win. He didn't say it in exact words but just the way the chat flowed. He certainly doesn't do his part in trying to settle down their fans a bit. Interestingly the notion was that they were wondering if the Coyotes could keep up with the Jacks. I wonder what Youngstown and UNI would say about that and the Coyotes have a much better offense and a D that should over achieve a bit at home. I am always a believer in completely respecting the opponent and as history repeats itself again Jacks fans continually show a lack of respect for their opponent and one that is fully capable of giving them a beat down if they come out and play anything less than their best.
Let people continue to under estimate the Coyotes in their home stadium. They are so much better at home and even with a far worse team two years ago they had the Jacks on the ropes before they pulled it out in the end. The single most over achieving unit in a loud stadium is the home defense. I would have to say that the Coyotes defense will play at least as well as the Jacks because from a motivational stand point they will have an edge to their game that the Jacks simply won't have. If this Coyote O can put up over 400 yards in the Fargo dome against arguably the best defense in FCS I would think they will do that plus possibly much more.
I tend to think that karma always seems to catch up with people. If the Jacks players believe how their fans do they will come out as flat as a pancake and be in a huge hole in the first half. I respect the players that play for SDSU much more than their fans and the media. Stig is a class act and he is a hard guy to cheer against.
So backsackdad make sure that a certain someone is fully aware how little respect the media, fan base etc has for the Coyotes in their home stadium. I don't think the Coyotes are going to need too much help getting motivated but every bit of information that puts a huge chip on their shoulder cannot hurt.

I usually like to follow the line of scrimmage during a game and get loud. Now the fan atmosphere was great at Fargo, however, they had their concourses locked down and had a cop behind almost every attendant at any concourse I visited. OK...fair enough...fan safety...other than the 100 NDSU fans that were standing in front of me. Can I dare guess that will not happen this weekend? Outside of that...you really have to look deeper into our teams losses. They really screwed up in their first 2 losses and gave the gave away. This last week was the first they truly lost. That environment is hostile. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE COYOTES ARE AS THEIR LAST FEW GAMES MAKE THEM OUT TO LOOK! They are the same team that schlacked many teams before these last games. I AM PREDICTING A BIG STATEMENT WIN! ...and if you think about it...what a better way to enter the playoffs...the team that got lucky when they needed to? MARK MY WORDS...A LOT OF POEPLE ARE GOING TO BE VERY HAPPY THIS WEEKEND IF, WE AS FANS, SO OUR PART JUST AS WE'RE EXPECTING THE TEAM TO DO!!! BOOM!!! SHAKALAKA!!!! I will disagree with the Illinois State game. The Coyotes were clearly out played and did not seem mentally sharp in that one. I wouldn't say they gave that game away or ever really deserved to win it. Unfortunately for the UNI game they don't count yardage towards the final score. The Coyotes had an advantage but you play to the scoreboard not the number of yards gained. If UNI would have had to make up 200 yards instead of 2 scores it probably would have been tougher for them. I still think that game was lost because the Coyotes didn't properly put the game away allowing UNI to stay in that game and if a team has a pulse they can be dangerous in their home building.

I would tend to think that most fans with a talented team would be confident enough to say when. I guarantee players are saying it in the lockeroom. Both teams should be expecting a win. So if you take offense to the confident tone of Zims chat I urge you to read past posts on this board about your team. I expect the Jacks to hoist the “little brown jug” just as confidently as thebacksackdad expects his son and the Yotes to raise it. Do some people become negative about their teams chances? Sure, but if you’re a fan of a ranked team, you expect to win.

I expect the Jacks to hoist the “little brown jug” just as confidently as thebacksackdad expects his son and the Yotes to raise it. Do some people become negative about their teams chances? Sure, but if you’re a fan of a ranked team, you expect to win. It goes beyond confidence with the SDSU fan base, it is downright arrogance much of the time. Remember when the Jacks were talking national title at the beginning of the year. That talk sure simmered down in a hurry. They go on a 5 game winning streak and suddenly winning in Vermillion is not much more then a formality. Just the way the fans talk you can tell most of them simply don't understand the kind of a buzz saw the Jacks may be running into in Vermillion. Sure the Jacks could definitely win the game but I am pretty amazed at the lack of nervousness considering that they are playing one of the best home teams in the entire country. The Jacks will come in confident but I don't think they will play with the edge that the Yotes will play with. Many Jacks fans are wondering if the Coyotes will even be able to keep up with the Jacks. We will see on Saturday. Many people are saying that the Jacks are having the better season but do keep in mind that they have played 6 home games and only 4 road games. The Coyotes have played 6 road games and only 4 home games. I think that is something that has certainly helped the Jacks have one fewer loss so far. The Yotes have had Bowling Green, Western Illinois, Illinois State, UNI and NDSU all on the road. I would not be surprised if the Coyotes had the toughest road schedule of any team in the FCS aside from maybe Western Illinois. I think that is something that the committee needs to look at because that is a very, very tough path to sled. The Jacks have had Montana State, Missouri State, Youngstown and Western Illinois on the road. That is actually an extremely big difference there. A committee member needs to look at those things because they are important factors in determining a teams worthiness. One of the big reasons I thought the Coyotes were still a year away going into this season was simply because I didn't think the schedule played out well with many of the tough games on the road. With the Yotes being so good at home it has a big impact. If the Yotes had played at Indiana State and SIU and had Illinois State and UNI at home I think we are looking at a 9-1 Coyote team right now. Next year the schedule plays out more friendly which doesn't guarantee anything but this years schedule has taken a toll.
