Well, the FBS game will be harder this season. Opening at Kansas State. We drop Illinois state from the schedule and add Missouri State. 2 big sky teams in non-conference. Home to Northern Colorado and away at Weber State. XDSU games spaced out by several weeks rather than back to back. Should still have good depth at WR and TE. O line returns 6 with experience. Need some LB to get healthy and/or step up. DB corps with lots of experience second half of 2017.

Anyone know anything about Ed Kennedy? Is he trying to get a medical red shirt or is he done?

I'd argue our only notable loss is Streveler, given how many key guys we lost during the season. We do have someone with all the tools in Simmons taking over QB though.
O-Line, by the end of the season, was Juniors and younger and holding their own. All will be back.
RB has zero seniors.
WR will lose Van Roekel and Brooks. We are very deep here though.
TE we lose Ramsey, but have Hale and Samson to step in.
DL we lose Lambert, but have studs in Greenfield, Schultz, and Kline. I'm sure someone will fill in the 4th spot.
LB we lose Litrenta (and Wessel, months ago).
Secondary we lose Lewis, and that's not major. Nothing compared to what we already lost mid-season.
We're set on offense, and have work to do at LB and DB. We will have more depth next year but will inevitably take a step back without the best player in FCS running our offense. I don't think our step back will be a big one though, and we should be in the playoffs again, but I anticipate another finish in the second round.
My predicted record for 2017 was dead on so everyone has to take what I say as fact.

Neither would be eligible for a 6th season, as they both redshirted their 1st year without an injury.
Hale is a senior

So clear in fact, that I wonder if you have a connection to a QB lower on the depth chart. If someone on the roster is better they should get the job. Simmons is now the only guy to have taken a snap though, and he has shown great flashes in his limited chances. Simmons has all the tools. He surely has plenty to learn, but he's got a better arm than Streveler (according to Nielson - and anyone who's seen both QBs) and is quite agile too. I'll be shocked if Simmons isn't the starter next year.

There should be great competition for all positions which is the way it should be when you've had some great recruiting classes including QB, but clearly at this point in time Simmons is clearly ahead in experience with 2 Valley wins.

I hope we can find another kicker that we have confidence in beyond 30 yards. It would be good to add points instead of turning the ball over on downs when we’re just outside the red zone.

My guess is they really like Dom Long the K they redshirted from western Nebraska. Also redshirted a punter and long snapper.

I'll be shocked if Simmons isn't the starter next year. And you have made your stance that he is the starter. He beat an ISU team last year yes he did. Not a great performance but he won. Has done nothing this year because Sterv was way better. Dont start with this SIU crap either. He did nothing but hand the ball off. Yes he threw the ball but did nothing to win the game. When you come in and have 3 yards to go for a td big deal. If i recall it was a shut out. Also "he has won games in conference " So what so did Ryan Saeger and I believe it was against a little better opponent you know like the team that normally wins it all (NDSU if you have no idea what i am talking about). So if you win a game in the valley your an automatic starter? LOL thats fumny. He has a stronger arm than Strev but NOT A BETTER ARM!!!!! Remember that. No way does he compare to the offensive player of the year!! And this crap if I have a QB lower on the chart is just that. Is simmoms your son? All you do is say hes the best. My opinion is my opinion. Yours is yours. I think he is not good enough to be the starter. Why am i wrong and your right? He is cluless out there. Cant read a defense, doesnt remember plays and looks like he is affraid to get hit. He looks for the #1 option then he gets flustered if not open. Do you think he is being congratulated when he comes off the field from schlafke? He is being told what he did wrong over and over. Your right he can throw it 70 yards good luck with that.
