Youngstown, UNI, Nicholls... I'm surprised North Dakota didn't make this awful list Gotta be about starting QB returning.

Noticed a few players no longer listed on the football roster: two offensive linemen, freshman Jack Clement and soph Justin Lewis, also junior linebacker Matt Johnson. Don't really know much about any of these players. Things probably just didn't work out for them. That can happen to anyone. Best of luck and thanks for your efforts as Coyotes.

Until last year the pollsters had zero reason to ever mark us as a top program. Then we had the best player in the FCS, but he graduated, so in their mind it's back to business as usual. They're wrong, but I get it. Gotta earn that respect.
More importantly, preseason polls are absolute garbage and should never be taken seriously.

They do give us something to talk about in June though.

Times starting to be added to some games. Last home game a 1 start due to HS football championship weekend. No time listed for UNI game, which makes me curious. SIU & YSU games in evening. Presumably for heat at SIU, but should make for late nights of travel. K-State game @ 6. SDSU game @ 2. Still nothing on UNI game. UNI @ 6 Has to be a midco deal not wanting to have SDSU and USD games on at same time. Can’t blame them.

SDSU has 6 starts all home games in September, then opposite scenario when we play at 2 for Dakota Day then SDSU at 6. TV has to factor in.

I just got done mowing my yard, and was thinking about football. A thought that crossed my mind, was if you were an odds maker and had to set the over/under on USD wins this season, where would you set it?
I would set it @ 6.5.

The pre season will answer that. I’m saying over if we go 2-1. Weber State is the key game. I like our chances to be 5-3 in the Valley. I could build a case for 6-2 or 4-4 as well but I’ll go with 5-3.

Kansas State ( L ) Northern Colorado ( W ) Weber State ( tossup ) Southern Illinois ( hopeful W ) Missouri State ( W ) Northern Iowa ( W ) Youngstown State ( likely loss ) NDSU ( loss on paper...we might get them at home with fired up crowd ) Indiana State ( W ) Western Illinois ( W ) SDSU ( tossup...I think we are slightly better team but game and 800 lb gorilla is in Brookings )
Thoughts?
Kansas State I say we have 1 chance in 15 to get them...but can be done. Their defense may have trouble with our offense. If we win it’s a high scoring game
Northern Colorado is first home game in front of revved up crowd regardless of results in Manhattan the previous Saturday
Weber State is a benchmark game out there. They are preseason ranked 9th. Should be a heck of a game
Southern Illinois is a rising team in the MVFC. I think we are better but we are on the road
Missouri State is better but we are better than them. Should get 14 point win unless we are looking past them
Northern Iowa could be a Coyote romp. Last year better be fresh in their minds. We are definitely the better team
Youngstown State is going to be good. Equal teams, game in Ohio, revenge factor from last year
NDSU might be a huge game. Raucious crowd just might be enough to propel us to the upset win. Game will be within 7 either way
Indiana State is Indiana State. Better but not on level with 7-8 teams in the league
Western Illinois should be a good game. The affects of their new coach will be evident by the time we play them. I like our chances at home.
SDSU right now odds makers would have the Jacks as solid favorites. I think they’ve lost a lot of firepower. We need to get that monkey off our back and would be awesome to do it in Brookings. Last year we were definitely the better team but didn’t get the W, so credit them. Role reversal this year I’m hoping.
This is how I see the league. It’s a benefit to get Missouri State on schedule and drop Illinois State. That’s a 1 game potential swing in standings

That one game swing is good to have, but it is somewhat offset by a harder FBS game this season. I agree weeks 3 & 4 are pivotal.

What am I missing in everyone thinking Youngstown is going to be so tough? I thought they lost a lot, recruiting has been nothing special the past few years and haven't heard of any new felons joining the team. And please don't give any Pelini factor...guy's a head case.
