According to Jeremy Hoeck from the P&D's twitter. the USD-SDSU football game will be played Nov. 17, 2012 in Brookings. Awesome! I know SDSU people will be glad the game is in Brookings to start, and that's where I think it should start too.

So is the rest of the 2012 conference schedule available somewhere?

The date is the last regular season game for both teams. That should/could help late season attendance swoons for both teams if they continue to schedule the game in the same manner going forward.
Now we need to take care of Laaaamarrrr backing out of 2011 return game.

Why in Brookings? They get the first girls basketball game, the first men's bball game, now the first football game. Why do we think we owe them anything?
Why would any of you think this is right?

You know, I thought this was going to be a good morning and right off the bat I read that Lamar backs out of their game and now we have to go to SDSU for the first game of the series renewal. What a crock.
I drove by CAS the other weekend and the place is still a POS. Glorified high school stadium. I hope it isn't a night game because I don't see how those 4 banks of lights can illuminate the whole field.
I hope the field is frozen by then because that cow pasture will be torn to crap by Nov 17.

They have been D1 longer and until USD can compete and beat them on a regular basis, USD will be looked upon as SDSU's little brother in eyes of many of many in the area.

The conference portion of the schedules are done for the next couple years, but I don't think are public yet. I guess maybe they are on the conference website, I didn't look. The conference sets the schedule. I believe the main input USD gets to put into that is ranking the league members by who they want to play each year. Kind of like ranking your rivalry in order. So USD would like SDSU 1, NDSU 2, UNI 3, etc. To make sure USD plays those schools every year. Remember there is one odd man out each year. Also, I believe USD has requested to be on the road for every pheasant opener, which is a smart move. Makes no sense to intentionally mess with a SD holiday. I also think USD will usually play SDSU and NDSU home away each year. By that I mean, if SDSU is at home, NDSU is away, and vice versa. That helps guarantee one big game in Verm each year. Bonus years are when UNI comes to Verm. Also, I believe a condition to USD getting into the league some of the schools will only play two Dakota schools are year, and make only one trip to the Dakotas a year. For example, Southern Ill would play at NDSU, have SDSU at home, and not play USD in a year. I think there are three schools in that rotation. Technically, the first USD SDSU mens BB game was scheduled to be in Verm first, but a great job was done to move that out of the Xmas holiday. I have no problem with going to SDSU first. So first SDSU game at home is 2013. That means we play NDSU at home in 2012, which means they come to USD before we go to NDSU. That probably doesn't sit well in Bison land.

As far as the SDSU game it will take some of the pressure off the Yotes to be on the road first. Anytime a matchup is held I always like to be on the road first and have the payback game thereafter. That way it gives the Yotes something to hang their hat on if things don't go so well the first time around. "Yah, you beat us in Brookings but can you do so in Vermillion where there is actually a home field advantage".
As far as NDSU is concerned USD isn't really gaining anything by having them at home because they already paid a visit up there this year.
I care more about USD as a program being ready to join the MVFC which I don't believe is the case than how the schedule is setup.

I agree the team needs to come together and step up to be competitive in the MVFC but we were very young last year and last year's redshirt class has talent. Transition is a bugger on so many levels and we will continue to feel that for a few years.

We haven't played them in 9 years so who knows who is better. I can flip that argument and say that SDSU needs to prove they can compete with us. They haven't beaten an FBS school like we have. In the same year they lost to Cal Poly we beat Cal Poly in SLO. We both beat UND last year, USD probably more impressively. About the only thing I'll agree with is that SDSU has been D1 longer. Whether they are better or who can compete with who is up for debate and we certainly are not their "little brother".

I agree with you Yote53. I was just stating that in the eyes of many who are just casual fans of SD college sports, USD will been seen as the little brother. I'm not saying I agree with it, I'm just giving my perception of how many people feel. It will be a great feeling when USD is done with transition and can finally be called a full fledged D1 school. However, until that happens and USD beats quality D1 opponents on a regular basis, USD will not get the respect they deserve.

Then do what you can to change that perception and get in the people's ear. We can't expect that to change unless we let others realize that we are better than SDSU and make others see the same.

That is true Pierreyote, but at the same time, it is hard to say that you are better than someone if you haven't played them in 9 years. Do I say to people that we are, sure. But I just would rather we shut them up on the field or on the court.

We will all try and do what we can. Changing perception is a long slow process but with USD joing the MVF, it will generate excitement and people will come and see how good USD can and will be.
