First of all, whoever said I don’t think a DUI should keep a kid from playing college sports I agree with. There apparently is another significant issue or two that has surfaced in Iowa City that left Coach Ferentz with no choice but to cut Brandon’s chord. It’s classy on his part to save the young mans reputation. If Brandon had wanted to come to USD instead, my guess is we’d also have taken him. I know of the Snyder family fairly well and they are good people. Good people make bad choices at times. He’s one heck of an athlete ( as is his brother ) and will strengthen sdsu’ s defense immediately.
The reference to the rape was obviously made in regards to our situation last fall. Coach Nielsen made a quick decision that you can’t have that, but it cost us two games, maybe three. He could’ve kept them on roster “pending prosecution” but he didn’t. He did what was right. No one can point a finger at our staff and say anything less than the are what they say they are. No hypocrisy here. We had kids that made bad decisions and we dealt with it.
I say give Brandon Snyder a second chance wherever he plays and let a good young man make right. After all, wouldn’t we all want that second chance? But certainly the fans from that school can step down from their sanctimonious stage and admit lily white really does have some stains.

I know Brandon, Jaden, Colin, & the Snyder family from the high school sports that they were involved in. Brandon obviously made a couple of bad choices as a young adult. That being said, they have been some of the nicest and most respectful kids that my sons have competed against. The fact of the matter is that Brandon would have never picked USD at this point, because he would have not been guaranteed the playing time with our current Safety situation. It does seem a bit "tone deaf" after what the program has gone through, but if my son made a really bad choice I would hope he would be given a second chance as well.

You're second chance is being able to remain in school and to drive again someday. The dangers of driving while impaired are advertised so heavily in our society that there is absolutely no excuse for such conduct. I probably see a "buzzed driving is drunk driving" PSA once a week. My brother who recently turned 14 has been conscious and inquisitive for years of me driving/not driving after having any alcohol. It's plainly obvious at this point that you have to be extremely cautious when it comes to driving after having any alcohol. I have no pity for those busted for being impaired behind the wheel.

For the record, I am fine with this kid getting another chance. I hope he learns from it and moves on, because that is what life is all about, learning from mistakes and moving on to make this world a better place.
My point of contention is with this attitude that SDSU folks have that they are somehow better or do things "the right way". The Jacks have lost the "morally superior" high ground that they think they somehow have. Way too many examples now of USD having zero tolerance for any BS while State brings in people that have had questionable incidents, or even AD staff that have had questionable incidents yet are retained and celebrated.

The Massey Composite rankings currently has 5 of the MVFC teams in their top 10, including all 3 Dakota schools, and 7 in their top twenty. www.masseyratings.com/cf/compare1aa.htmGoing to be another interesting fight to the finish and the playoffs.

These rankings make a lot more sense to me compared with the other FCS polls I have seen. Obviously Having USD in the top 10 is a big part of that, but this composite is much more favorable to the MVFC in general, which is much more realistic IMO. I wonder why sagarin isn’t included in this composite?

They will be included when they are released. in the end there are usually about 25-30 polls included if i remember correctly.

30 day free trials of espn plus available now thru Sunday. Only $5 per month after that and will need it for a few Coyote games. Would you pay $5 if it was ppv? I would. So I signed up.

FWIW, I think most of the Winnipeg Blue Bomber games are on ESPN+ too. I say Streveler's 65 yard TD pass last week through ESPN+.

Worth noting all USD home games have a free live stream at goyotes.com. You will be stuck with JVG calling the action as opposed to getting Jay Elsen on the Midco feed via ESPN+ though.
