A huge stop but UV gets the ball and get fouled. 3:40 84-76. That was a huge O-rebound for the Wolvs.

Snapshot of the boxscore right now, and we look good *decent in every category except score and rebounds. The boards are killing us.

The reason Tecker doesn't get more PT is because of his hip issues that are slowing him down.

Chicago State lost by 5 to a NAIA team tonight. Northwest Nazarenne or something like that. Not good. What does that say about the Great West. We beat them by less the NW Naz did.

This one is over. The Yotes shot well at times but what is discouraging is that USD did the effort things very poorly tonight. Bad defense, poor rebounding. It certainly didn't appear that they were boxing out but I was radio only. I will have Boot's post game comments when they are made, if they are allowed.
94-79 is your final.

Summary of Boots post game comments
he said the team got way down and did not give up. played better in second half. Liked how they played at times. got killed on boards. Tecker played good minutes. Cutler did well. shot well. good adjustment taking away threes in second half. first half wasn't so good. told his guys "they haven't had their day" and have played some bad basketball. They need to be better in the conference tourney when they come back out here. doesn't want to have guys focus on being down in the dumps.

To me it seemed as if Boots is a bit more resigned right now and isn't talking about expectations, using no excuses and that kind of thing. Boot's demeanor in interviews tends to reflect on how the team plays. He seemed not very excited on the interview, kind of like the performance of the team.
As a program we cannot be resigned to just accept a 15 point loss to a Great West team. It seemed like this loss was really not that big of a deal. That may not be the case, but the impression kind of came off that way.

I didn't hear his interview. I am sure he is disappointed in the teams performance and frustrated that they haven't been able to figure it out. They have, i believe, the talent but for some reason they aren't clicking on a consistent basis. Whether it is game to game, half to half or possession to possession.

Actually, I am kind of switching on this. We don't have the talent. Every game is telling the same story, we get beat up on the boards and don't have an inside presence. We just don't have experienced, talented bigs on this team.

I didn't get a chance to listen to the game last night as I was at a HS game but looking at the stats isn't pretty. Being out rebounded by 17 is hard to overcome. I don't care how talented the team, it is hard to win when you give the opponent that many more chances than you get yourself.

Has USD had a good rebounding team since Chuck Iverson played?

Actually, I am kind of switching on this. We don't have the talent. Every game is telling the same story, we get beat up on the boards and don't have an inside presence. We just don't have experienced, talented bigs on this team. Mr. Gruis IS a talent, and I wouldn't be surprised if his name becomes part of some special conversations by the time his career ends. But he's still raw in some respects. I also think Andreotti has decent upside. Chemistry (which develops with shared experience) seems to be an issue with this team. It's important for these guys to keep their heads up. We lose only two players after this season. With a core group returning, our new recruits (Hiliard and Brown) and possibly a JUCO or two, we are still positioned to do some damage.

yote 53. Have you ever watched the team play? Have you looked at the stat lines of our bigs? evidently not. How about you take a look at some of the guards and see what numbers they AREN'T putting up. You, like everyone else, are blinded by the so called "super star" guards we have. You know the ones im talking about to, if i need to name names i will. rebounding is a team effort just like defense and offense and every other part of basketball. I am so sick of every loss being blamed on the lack of talent that our bigs have. I would invite you to look at the effort the bigs. watch some game tapes and look at the shot selection and the defense by them, and then look at 2 of our superstar guards and their shot selection and defensive ability as well as there rebounding contributions. If you can still say that our problem is a lack of bigs then there is no hope for you.
