There would have been six quarterbacks in the room. That seems like a lot. Pure speculation: with his size and athleticism possibly a change in position was in the works? Doesn't matter so in any case so just go play football somewhere, and more importantly, get your degree.

Wonder if Thull is career ending after appearing to hirt knee last time he played. Kordus is a bit surprising.

Is this team ever going to have depth at linebacker?

Wonder if Thull is career ending after appearing to hirt knee last time he played. Kordus is a bit surprising. I'm unpleasantly surprised at Kordus too. He's had playing time since his initial year and had done a solid job. Not surprised at Thull though and I feel bad for him because I think he had a bad knee injury in high school and then hurt it again in the Indiana State game. Sometimes, enough is enough. Be nice to walk without a limp when you're thirty. If I remember correctly Schlager had a severe knee injury in the spring one year too. Most of the others, other than Foote, were walkons I think.

Okay, some of you who question why we always seem to be young aren't going to like this, but, in scanning the newly posted roster, we're going to have fewer seniors next season than we did last season, 12 total. Side note: good news, Kameron Cline is listed so whatever hiccup he had must have been taken care off. Senior breakdown by position: 1 QB, 0 RBs, 3 WRs, 0 TEs, 2 OL, 5 DL, 0 LBs, and 1 DB. There are, however, 25 juniors listed so overall it will be an older, hopefully wiser, team come next fall. Need to get some sorely needed leadership out of this group of seniors and juniors.

Is this team ever going to have depth at linebacker? Linebacker will be an intriguing position this spring and fall, with the talk of going 3-4, a new DC that has a "position-less" approach, and the few LBs on the roster with experience. It looks like we'll see some different faces in that position, perhaps change of position. I'd love to hear from the football experts on this one.

I can see some of the safety’s that have put on significant weight and filled out in to linebacker size as being a good option. I bet we will see these position changes as they start spring practices. This would help get some depth and linebackers that have good enough hips and feet to cover running backs out of the backfield and Tight ends/WR. We have struggled in this area so my guess is the coaching staff will be looking at this option.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Greenfield, Kramer and/or Richardson playing LB in the new defensive scheme. We also signed two JC LB’s . Excited to see how the new DC uses our players that have the ability to play a hybrid position.

If this defensive coordinator is the defensive genius they say he is, I don’t think Kramer, Greenfield and Cline will be Linebackers in the scheme. His philosophy is positionless. I think the defense the Colts ran in their first playoff win this season is more probable, 7 DB’s will be utilized in the defense. This is my prediction. It would make for a really fast defensive scheme in which you can give numerous diifferent looks tha will confuse the MVFC offenses. They will cover better than traditional linebackers as well.

Powell, is one I would think He's a big hitter who I've always been impressed with and then there are some of last year's freshmen crew like Sivils, Ferguson, and Starling who have the frames, but I have no idea what kind, if any, weight they've put on this offseason or even where they'd need to be at. It'll be interesting to see.

Powell, Sivils, Ferguson, Starling would be the DB’s that may be viable choices for the transition. When they update heights and weight prior to summer workouts will give us a good idea of who is a viable option.

Reggie Crawford is no longer listed on the football roster. I'm good with this.

Can’t say I’m broken up about it. Lots of hype but never did much of anything. No way of knowing if he was effected by injuries, but left a lot to be desired last year.

I am no t sure what happened there but I have a theory. He was a 3 star out of high school that received all this hype, his got the body prototype for the makings of a stud receiver. He signs with USD thinking he is not going to have to red shirt he will come in be a starter and make an all star impact. Like many other high school football players they do not understand the magnitude of the increase in talent at the FCS level. They think going FCS rather than FBS they are going to come in right away and make an impact. Never mind did he get redshirted, he couldn’t break the starting line up last year and when he was in the game didn’t make any impression. I’m sure this was an ego buster to say the least. The transition from high school to D1, either level can be sobering for high school stars. What makes the difference is character and resilience. Crawford should of worked hard on this off season and come in to spring ball like a lion going after prey. Then work hard on summer workouts and make one of those starting spots his. I guess he chose a different route. Just a theory!
