I thought Cox was already gone a while ago. I know a few people from Remsen and they never expected him to last.
Was Falaniko hurt last year? I remember his name coming up in the preseason but I don't see that he ever played.

I remember his name coming up in the preseason but I don't see that he ever played. Falaniko is still around town and I assume he is still in school. Seems like a nice kid. I thought he was an interesting prospect, his being from Alaska and all. Things always seem to sort themselves out, hopefully in the best interest of everyone.

DL – This position group has the most experience of any on our team as we return seniors Darin Greenfield, Luis Peguero, Devalon Whitcomb and juniors Jack Coker, Jake Headlee, and Nick Kramer. Other young guys that will push in the spring include sophomores Riley Peters and Peter Klug and freshmen Ethan Burson and Brendon Webb. Sophomore Nate Schultz who missed the entire 2018 season due to injury is on the comeback trail and will practice on a limited basis this spring. DL is a must to win the the MVFC. There is a little more depth at DT this season as a few guys have some potential in Headlee and Coker; also return Whit and Peguero as seniors. Ethan "Big Country" Burson is a big athletic kid and could be a contributor. Klug was a top recruit when he came in. Greenfield was keyed on last year and it showed. Kline and Kramer need to (and can) get more pressure with the focus on Greenfield. I am skeptical on Schultz returning as he had a bad injury. If he does that will be a great boost. He was great as a Freshman.
LB – Backers in the new 3-4 system will include junior Jake Richardson and sophomore transfer Brady Booker at the strongside outside position. Juniors Jack Cochrane and Jake Matthew along with sophomore Jon Joanis return with experience and freshmen Brock Mogensen, Dakota Smith, Tre Thomas, and Hunter Headlee will all compete this spring. This position has the biggest question mark to me. There are a lot of guys who could be contributors. Jake Richardson has the look. Booker is yoked, kinda reminds me of a Tyler Starr. Cochrane was decent last year and will improve. Matthew has the potential, but is often injured. Joanis and Dakota Smith are very quick. Tre Thomas has always been interesting to me as he is an unknown. He was the last to sign in the 2018. I hope the Yotes can rely on the LBs rather than having to use the SS in the box like Gray last year. It leaves the back end too vulnerable.
CB – Sophomore Cam Tisdale and junior Mark Collins return as starters although Collins missed more than half the season due to injury in 2018. Freshmen Tre Jackson and Rodney Sivils will be highly competitive here as well. Collins is pretty solid for the most part and is experienced. Tisdale and Jackson made a lot of freshman mistakes last year. They can build on their experience and improve. There could be some freshman who see some time, maybe Ford or Sivils in the nickel.
Safety – Another position that returns some depth with senior Mike Johnson and juniors EJ Reed and Phillip Powell returning. Powell who missed most of the year with an injury in 2018 will be a welcome addition back to the group. Sophomores Isiah McDaniels and Jordan Sommerville (who moves from corner) give this group additional experience. I feel pretty good about the safety group. Powell has shown he is a ball hawk when healthy. Johnson and Reed are solid and seasoned at FS.
Specialists – Punter Brady Schutt returns but will be pushed by sophomore Bryan Clements. PAT/FG kicker Mason Lorber, who improved throughout the year, returns along with long snapper Dalton Godfrey. Schutt was solid last year. Kicker has been a let down ever since Bergner graduated. I don't trust Lorber past 30 yards. I figured Long would have more say in the competition, but so far haven't seen it.

The first day of practice and looks like a few more names are off the roster. Cannon Cox - RB and Ethan Faliniko - RB Down to 4 left at the RB position with 2 coming in the fall. I haven’t seen anyone post this yet but sounds like returning Center Tyler Ciurej is no longer with the team. If i missed the post sorry for the duplication. I understand it was his choice and wants to be done with football. I will let you pros find out more details on the specifics of why but that would be a huge hit for the OL. If he decides to not return with the Coyotes I would like to wish him the best in his next adventure.

Tough to lose Tyler but looks like we picked up a big load of a JUCO transfer to take his place.

It was questioned whether he would ever play again. That he is even going to practice is progress to me. That's what I meant by very serious, but I didn't want to mention career ending. Fingers crossed, but long term health is more important.

Is there any good reason to take any risks in the spring?

Look forward to a great year Coyotes!!! Sleigh the goliath in the 2nd week!!! Remember you all are FBS talent and were just overlooked! IMO, the OK game is going to boil down to all coaching. This could be a huge game for Nielsen!!!

That's a big person. Hope he can play. Losing Ciurej is a blow though. He was highly touted coming out of high school and was having a successful career here. I think it would be hard to walk away from a scholarship, but if is heart isn't into it and he's not having fun, it certainly doesn't do justice to himself or anyone else to continue. Can't go through life being miserable. It's hard to sometimes appreciate the tremendous amount of work and time commitment theses players put in anymore. I wish him a bright future and thanks for your efforts as a Coyote.
