Could be wrong, but it's my understanding that if seniors do opt to return their scholarships won't count against the total. Has this been approved already? I thought the vote by the NCAA on an extra year of eligibility for basketball players had yet to happen.

Players do get an extra year if they want it....not just seniors. Likely most of our seniors will not take it due to career goals and such. The extra scholarships will not count against the maximum but also Keep in mind that extra year of eligibility does not mean they have to be on scholarship (for those schools who cannot afford to add more scholy money)....it means eligibility (with or without scholarships). Either way, this NCAA decision will certainly have impact on teams for the next 4 years.

Cassidy Carson 6'-0" Guard, Egan, MN Carley Duffney 5'-11 Forward, Green Bay, WI Grace Larkins 5'-10 Guard, Altoona, IA I was thinking Duffney was a PG prospect. Guess I was wrong. (position-less basketball) ARTICLE LINK
Side note: all are National Honor Society Members. Color me not surprised.

Coach P comments on Duffney:
Carley is a dynamic athlete who possesses great speed, and uses it on both ends of the court. She deflects a lot of passes, and makes plays in transition. She also attacks the rim really well in a half-court and creates a great deal, not only for herself, but also for her teammates.
We also love that she has the ability to space the floor and shoot it from the arc..... she is already comfortable in a motion offense.

Comments on Larkins:
(Grace) is an active defender who gets a number of deflections, steals and rebounds. She's also a force on the offensive end, handling it, penetrating, shooting it from the arc, and attacking the boards.
Grace is currently the all-time leading scorer at her high school. She is also a back-to-back national champion on the AAU circuit playing for the EYBL All-Iowa Attack program.

Comments on Carson:
Cassidy is a former HS teammate of current Coyote, Macy Guebert.... Cassidy has played at the highest level of club basketball, while playing for the North Tartan AAU program.
Cassidy is a long, prototype-player. And one of her specialties is knocking down arc shots.

According to a Des Moines Register article from May, Larkins had offers from Drake, Northern Iowa, and Eastern Illinois. It was also noted she is the number one ranked 2021 WBB player in Iowa. (btw, she is also a top track athlete) Wow, kudos to our coaches for recruiting her but also a big thank you to Grace for choosing to be a Yote!

My lack of social media skills is showing, I was trying to add a recent Twitter post from the DM Register about Larkins. The gist of it being she is considered by many to be the best of the best of class of 2021 in Iowa.

Good find. I don't know much about ACL injuries, other than some are career-ending and some are season-ending. She seems to be still planning to enroll, so I'd say that's encouraging. Once here, I have lots of faith in our PT and trainers, based on past recoveries from injury. Liv and Trimboli are a couple of good examples.
