Sucks to lose both of them, they're very good players, but one thing they both had in common was the inability to stay healthy. Neither has hardly been available the past several seasons.

Is this a case of a crowded room and players seeing where they are at and decide they want PT somewhere else? Falck was projecting to factor into the plans pretty heavily next year, unless I am mistaken. So is this about taking a shot to play at a bigger school? Or maybe he legitimately is going to do graduate work somewhere else and it is purely an academic move? Just trying to get a handle on the why. Bigger is not the motivation, I am not saying he won't look there, but it was academic and other reasons.

Looks like Dominic Long is leaving the team too (but continuing school at USD). I dont think he ever saw the field in his three years.

Has anyone researched what freshmen played in only 4 games and could red shirt vs those that played in more and can't? And any rumors of those that played in 4 but looked so good they might not redshirt?

The ones I know, Cory Fant burned his redshirt and had to play at CB. #5 the RB will redshirt after playing his 4 games, #14 the WR got his 4 games and will redshirt, #73 the OL got his 4 games also and will redshirt, along with another OL. Not many freshmen get to play their 4 games so when they do, it shows that they see something in them. Word on the street is they almost burned #14 redshirt cuz they liked him a lot at slot WR and had a couple injuries in the slot. Future is definitely bright with this team. Kids leaving for whatever reasons is part of the process on a football team. It’s why you only see a portion of the freshmen class go all four years. Tough to read in to it cuz the answers aren’t always transparent.

What I can see without going to far into it:
Freshman who played four games preserving their eligibility 14 Carter Bell WR 73 Joey Lombard OL 29 Jason Simon-Ressler LB 50 Jason Samec DL 74 Siler Tschirhart OL 5 Travis Theis RB
Freshmen who played more than four games 20 Fant DB used eligibility 34 Hillis LB used eligibility

And if I’m not mistaken, Hillis is a little older after being in the Air Force. So not as big of a deal with him since he basically redshirted elsewhere.
