I was looking at WIU's stats. Although I haven't watched them play yet (ESPN3 might have some replays), their stats look like they are doing things in that similar way we are used to seeing from JD & crew.
They are drawing a ton of fouls (#3 in NCAA in FT attempts), but this far their FT shooting has been poor (62.3%).
They are chucking up a ton of arc shots (#4 NCAA 3PT attempts), and hitting 32.5% of them. While that efficiency isn't great, on a hot shooting night they can easily bury about anyone. Throw the stats out the window if that happens.
As usual, their rebounding is poor, and they are getting lots of steals and turnovers. On the plus side for us, they are also committing a lot of turnovers. Poor assist/turnover ratio.
Their scoring defense and arc defense are particularly poor. That's a good matchup for us (if we can take advantage of it).

Do I have this right? The other team has hit a buzzer beater in 5 of the last 7 quarter-ends.

Stats online are kind of messed up. I scored the game and these are unofficial: USD: Lamb 20 (3 3's, FT 2-2), Sjerven 18 (11 rebounds, 1 blk), Fredrick 14, Duffy 13 (8 rebounds, 7 assists, FT 5-5), Korngable 11 (1 3pt & FT 4-4), McKeever 8, Ugofsky 4 (6 rebounds), Kunzer 3, Hempi 3, Arens 2. WILL: Kaufmann 16, Flores 14 (3 3pt), Graettinger 8 (left injured at 7:53 Q3), Nichols 7, Lutz 5, Pryor 5, Filmore 4, Zars 4, Dins 2.
USD 20-18-25-33=96 WIL 12-23-18-12=65
Free Throws USD 16-18 .889 WIL 14-20 .700

Coyotes had a ton of fouls in 1st half--chasing players from behind that were driving to basket. Cleaned it up in 2nd half and O was much more in synch. Only had a 3 pt lead at half--looked like they had been on Christmas break but kept chopping wood the 2nd half and ran away.
So frustrating to watch the free feed--no score, clock etc on the screen??? You have to wonder if these trainee college programs ever look at their own product or if they've never seen how to run a video feed--it is soooo elementary!!

The stats that they posted still seem to be wrong. I know at least the minutes are wrong, because in the second period, they only have Hannah for two minutes, but she came in later and had another two. They are also missing fouls, for at least her and Liv.

The folks running the stats and clock were having issues, too. At one point the refs had to use a stopwatch with video replay to correct the clock because it hadn't been running for 20 seconds. You could hear Coach P from Thayer's mic say "you've gotta be kidding me!". Makes me appreciate what we have at USD.

I took Coach P's 'you've gotta be kidding me' to be a reference to the officials taking several minutes to sort out 10-20 seconds of game clock when it was a 27 point game with under 2 minutes to play. Just pick a number and let the game end. (The officials had a really rough day. Both coaches had legit reasons to be very frustrated with them.) Thayer mentioned on the radio call that everything was out of sync: The Yotes play, officiating, the building, the scoreboard, it all felt 'off'.

Always tough to tell on a live stream, but there appeared to be some real questionable calls going against USD in the first quarter that directly led to 3 USD starters sitting for most or the first half. The calls finally started to even out by the end of the game. You can usually tell by the body language of the players as to whether there was an actual foul committed or not. There were several times that both teams seamed unsure what the ref was calling, which is a pretty good indication of a bad call.

As all of the fouls were being called in the first quarter, I was wondering if the ladies were adjusting to a Summit officiated game instead of the very physical SEC game that was played previously against South Carolina. Like was alluded to, without the ability to rewind and review and the lack of zoom camerawork, it was difficult to assess the validity of the calls.

WAKE UP, go take some ibuprofen, take a shower, and check out this game in Indy! Maybe should have sent this message to the team?
