I was making the same internal comparison as you with the Aren's reference. This young lady is a baller, and plays at a very high level. Being local is an added bonus for Yote fans as well.

I have to imagine that an alternative financial aid deal was worked out and that the plan is that she won’t be a non-scholarship member of the team for long. That said, you can never have enough players that know how to win. It’s an added bonus when those players feel the pride of representing their home state.

She's a very good student, so certainly may have received some academic scholarships.

Olivia Kieffer tonight won our Rapid City Official's annual award for female high school athlete of the year for the RC and Douglas (Ellsworth AFB) HSs. Certainly well deserved!!

In 2018 someone by the name of Ciara Duffy won the award!

Olivia couldn't be at our banquet since she was at the Miss SD event. Her AD spoke about her work ethic and her scholastic achievement. He also read a nice thank-you from her.

One thing that this picture reminds me of is that three of four of our freshmen were coached by one of their parents in High School: Coral's mom, Olivia's dad, and Avery's mom.  Really cool photo.
