Now to talk about the actual game. I think the Yotes have a good chance to start the season 1-0. I was reading the ISU preview and they is many questions when it comes to their defense and offense. The strongest group they have according to college news is their linebackers. When I say we have a good chance, that does include having a QB that is solid. If the coaches haven’t decided who the starting QB is, they are going to only have a short amount of time to evaluate the competition. I would think they have to have an idea?

Tsagalis knows the system the best, but I worry about a 1 year starter. Maybe I shouldn’t, but I do. Am I wrong thinking if Parks was the guy, he would’ve already passed Tsagalis? Ekern has been around a year, and Camp is going to be hampered by the cancellation of spring ball. Which sucks for him after graduating early so he could participate.

And if Tsagalis is a 1 year starter, you gonna do a one year starter again the next season with Parks? It doesn’t seem like a great strategy. I wonder if we see a rotation?

You worry about this year this year and next year next year. Put the best player on the field now.

I would think the coaches have a good idea who will be under center. As a fan though, I have no idea what our QB play will look like moving forward. We have approximately zero game experience on the roster. If we don't skip a beat from Simmons, yeah I'd say I like our chances. That's a huge "if" though. I don't care to make any predictions for the upcoming season because the most important position on the team is a complete unknown for me. Hopefully the defense and OL make great strides though. There has been reason for optimism with those units.

I also hope the OL improves, just not sure their improvement needs to be as large as the defense. Hopefully they are able to react more than think this season.

For as ridiculously young as they were last year, I thought they more than held their own. This bunch has all the makings of a powerhouse unit in the nest several years.

I feel DB and Oline went from 2 of our biggest question marks at the start of last year to 2 of our stronger groups going into this year. We have a lot of snaps returning at both.
I would say Dline and QB are the 2 areas of most concern to me. Dline has been a concern for almost our entire D1 existence. I think we have plenty of potential there though with younger guys like Holden, Burson, Gaes, etc.
The other area we are suddenly very thin at is TE with only 3 on the spring roster

The OL seemed like such a big liability heading into last season, but held their own in a tough league, and look poised to thrive as they age.

When it comes to having a quarterback the more years he can start the better. Of course the best QB should play but I would tend to lean towards the player with more eligibility left if things are fairly close as far as which is the better player. That is especially true with what the Quarterback is asked to do in this system. Decision making is huge making it even more important to get multiple years out of each starter. My #1 quality in this system is to simply have a player that doesn't have to look to the side line so often for the play call because in a hurry up offense it slows things down too much. The Coyotes need to get this offense back to playing mega fast or just scrap it all together. There is no middle ground with this O IMO.

Today's results for ISU really make you wonder how our game would have gone. The spring season better be worth the wait.

After watching that game yesterday I am convinced we would have a 50/50 shot of beating ISU.
