Looks like we'll be a go for the season opener in Ames, IA on September 5. Was really looking forward to making the road trip to this one, as were most USD fans I have spoken with. I really think the Coyote fan base would have shown up big for this game. Looks like that won't happen now as it appears the attendance will be restricted to 30,000 and that should be covered by ISU season ticket holders. They don't expect single game tickets to go on sale.
I wonder how many tickets will be available on the secondary market. I would think there will be some ISU fans that would skip this game except it is the season opener so that is probably not likely.

Did they say what time the game is going to be played?

Stinks for our fans because these were usually some of the most fun games of the year. I hope the parents of the players, especially those from Iowa, who want to attend are able to. They should probably be the first priority if USD gets any tickets.

I've been to Jack Trice Stadium several times. Fantastic set-up for tailgating (they spill over into the nearby park), and very laid-back fan base. Fun football destination, if any of you are able to make the trip. Reiman Gardens Conservatory is a chill nearby destination, if you like plants. The Campustown district is where all the students party (if anything is open at that time)....

I will do everything I can to get tickets for the game for everyone on here. Message me with your requests and numbers and I’ll work on it. I have season tickets there as well although I rarely go as I watch USD home and road. I’ll do my best

I've heard there is a good chance Yote fans will have access to buy tickeys for this game.

I've heard there is a good chance Yote fans will have access to buy tickeys for this game. The AD sent out an email to all season ticket holders and stake holders last week laying out the game plan if nothing changes between now and September 5th. In Iowa the 50% rule is in effect. That means no more than 30,000 people can go inside Jack Trice for the game. As of the date he wrote the email, there had been 22,000 season tickets sold and they are planning on it being in the 40,000 range once all renewals are in. Based on their points system the limit of 30,000 will be put in place so any tickets that can be ascertained by Coyote fans will have to come from current season ticket holders. I know several of those people and I’m willing to reach out to them and offer to buy their tickets for that game if they aren’t planning to go. Not all of them will I’m betting.

So you're saying USD would have zero allotment for tickets? I find that hard to swallow, especially if they kept parents of our players out. I would think that USD would have been guaranteed a certain number of tickets when the game contract was signed.

So we're going to still pretend doing this social distance thing. Has anybody been paying attention this last week?
Just open it up 100%. Social distancing is done.

I would think that USD would have been guaranteed a certain number of tickets when the game contract was signed. I don’t know the answer to that. My guess is USD would get a minimal allotment of tickets for parents for sure. And I’m sure there was a minimum number allocated but if that changed due to this craziness I don’t know the answer to that either. On a side note, Iowa State this morning announced that a part time worker in the department tested positive and is now in quarantine along with a full time staffer that worked closely with this person. Also 4 athletes from 2 different sports have symptoms of Covid-19 and have been tested. All 4 four are currently under quarantine waiting test results. There’s zero panic to the situation just a department being 100% transparent.

I think it’s all nuts myself, but an executive order by the governor right now states 50%. If she changes it then the administration at Iowa State and other schools will determine what will go on I’m guessing.

If cases don't explode within two weeks I agree. I was elbow-to-elbow with hundreds if not thousands of people this weekend helping out on Lake Street. Still breathing comfortably.

We haven't come anywhere close to herd immunity. Perhaps the virus isn't out there as much as public health experts think it is, but the US' current rate of infection and horrific number of deaths suggest otherwise. The virus won't die just because we want it to. I totally support a cautious approach to re-opening. Organized contact tracing to would be even better. ncase.me/covid-19/

People have been gathering in the tens of thousands all over the country for a week. SIP, social distancing, all that stuff is pointless now. Containment and tracing is over. Don't you get it? There is no way to control it.

i talk to many people every day including multiple health care workers. i have contact with at least 100 different people a week and have been healthy as can be for months. i probably had this virus back in november and i have likely been exposed many times over. multiple health care workers have told me that it was an unusual year of mysterious illnesses and deaths. They are talking fall and winter before corona was a known thing.
80% of people are either a-symptomatic or have mild symptoms. that means 80% of the population that get this are not being reported or tested. How can an accurate estimate of covids impact be made based on only 20% of the cases likely being reported.
i am respectful of social distancing and the value of masks not because of my own worries but because of the worries and uncertainty of others.
If there was a big game such as the Women's final of the summit tourney i would have only a small concern of sitting amongst a packed house of screaming fans. i would assume those that have significant concern would simply stay home. I agreed with the shutdown but i think it is time to put the decision making of each individual in their own hands. I dont think there should be anymore restrictions with public events. That is kind of where things are or are heading but by September it is time to get back to normal and allow stadiums to be at full capacity. If i am still extremely worried about this virus i am not going to a game with even 25% capacity anyway. The human aerisole is gonna be all over the place anyway especially with coughing, sneezing, cheering fans.
