Can't really miss what you never had. We were obviously a safety school for him until/unless something bigger and better came along. With so many more players in the transfer portal than there are available scholarships, I wonder how many are going to be left standing when the music stops in this game of musical chairs.

Might be an opportunity to land some of those guys that couldn't quite find a home. Unfortunately, those are the guys that are always going to have their eye on something 'bigger' than USD.

At this point I don't even want those guys no matter how talented they are. We have a culture issue and bringing in transfers where USD is the safety option isn't going to help build the culture. Yeah, it's painting with a broad brush because I'm sure there are some great kids out there that will be looking for homes. Point is, a place like NDSU has a strong culture to where they can bring a couple guys like this in to plug some holes and they can be confident that these players will assimilate into their culture because they have plenty of guys that have been in the system in the locker room to make sure that happens. USD's culture isn't strong enough for that.

If this spring is any indication, we are physically inferior to most (the ones we played this spring at the very least) of the other teams in the conference. I am all for developing the roster we have, but we need to win ball games and I just don't know if we have the guys to do it. After all, the arguably best Coyote FB player ever was a transfer.

Yes our OL and DL need a major “facelift” through the weight room and/or the addition of a couple transfers like Missouri State did with their defensive backfield and QB spot to go from worst to tied for first. But to say that there is no talent on the roster to compete with the rest of the conference is ludicrous. Our offensive skill kids match up extremely well across the league and our defensive skill kids are adequate if the DL upgrades and applies more pressure on the opposing QB without having to blitz.

I disagree. We have a couple standout guys, but I can't see any unit on either offense or defense where we are as good or better than the XDSUs.
