I think I get what CF is trying to say - it is not unreasonable for a top tier mid-major to expect to win games against middle-of-the-pack P5 teams. Both SD schools have shown they can do that. But it isn't ever going to be because the mid-major is bigger/faster/stronger. Instead, it would be because the mid-major can be more skilled, better schemed, better shooting, more experienced, etc. I know I didn't expect a 2-4 record at this point. You could see the faces just deflate in the 3rd quarter when the ball wasn't going in the hoop. The team expected to win, and I hope things start to click again soon, before frustration affects play even more. I would totally expect to win every time. But you’ve gotta be realistic about what needs to happen and how you’re going to win. And you’ve also got to understand that you could look at that non-conference schedule, very easily play pretty well for the most part and have two wins right now.

I get what both of you are saying but CF has one point that I agree with the most, we as fans use the mid major label as an excuse when it comes to bigger better teams. SDSU just knocked off #15 UCLA by 10, they don’t use it as an excuse as a fan base and we shouldn’t either. We should have expectations of beating the top teams in the country. We had the game in hand yesterday so we are capable of doing it, it’s not an athleticism issue. The team didn’t adjust like they needed in the 3rd quarter when momentum shifted. For a team with 3 seasoned veterans we lost our composure and confidence that we had came out with.

If you think we should have the expectation of beating P5 teams every time we play them, then we just have different expectations. Yeah, we should have won last night and let it slip away, but the better team definitely won. We aren't going to have a better roster than 90% of high major teams that we play. We might win some here and there, but if you played the game 10 times, we're not going win the majority of them. I like the confidence the fan base has developed, but let's be realistic here. We're not UCONN or South Carolina. Neither is State, or any MidMajor. Now I'm not saying we can't beat anybody on any day, but we're not going to be the better team when we schedule these P5 schools.

Same offensive strategy tonight I guess. Can't get a clean look inside so we're gonna shoot 40 threes again. Lookout.

Obviously Lamb’s the story in this one but Mazurek’s minutes were huge in regulation. They needed that. Great win.

Great job Lady Yotes beating a very good Pitt team!!!
Three tough opponents all that play with a lot of physicality and yet you competed, never gave up and got the W!!
Lamb for President (after she's done playing BB)!! All the other players Cabinet posts!!

Additional thoughts:
Lady Yotes out rebounded Pitt 47-41in the official stats and Pitt had been leading the nation with over 50 per game and the Coyotes had 5 more ORBs!
Chloe was lights out!
Hannah had 4 blocks!
Natalie played over 21 minutes, had 6 RBs, 2-3 from 3, 4-7 overall and 10 pts!

Standings: TAMU 3-0 Yotes 1-2 Pitt 1-2 NW 1-2
It is interesting that the scores were pretty similar, but A&M played great in the second half of all three games. The teams were evenly matched when you look back at the tourney, even though it might have been a bit frustrating for Yotes fans.

I am happy that the Yotes beat Pitt. When you are on the third game in 3 days it is about guts and will and the Coyotes showed that. They could have just as easily packed it up and gave in but didn't.
The flight home had to be a little bit happier than it could have been. I think in general the Coyotes do have to take a look at what it takes to compete with these team more consistently. At least they got one of these games.

So do people still think the Coyotes don't need to get more athletic. I guess since we should never expect these games to be wins I guess the answer is still no. I know that nobody wants to see the women's team get more athletic than you do. That's why I'm sure you couldn't like the fact that Katie Vasecka of Tea signed with SDSU. She certainly would have helped us get more athletic. She had some high level offers. I was really hoping we would get her.
