29 days from today our football team hits the road and debuts in Lawrence, Kansas. There seems to be a fair amount of pessimism surrounding this team but not with me. Kansas is the bottom of Big 12 and under first year coach Lance Leoipold. Although he may make them better in time it’s still the same ol Kansas team until proven different. We can and I expect we will challenge them for a win. There’s no reason to believe otherwise. Next is a home date with Northern Arizona a middle of the pack Big Sky team. In one word I’d say that game is winnable. Then San Luis Obispo. Winnable.
My expectations are to be at minimum 2-1. Minimum. The thing about a new season is optimism abounds everywhere. And that includes the team itself. We have talent, we aren’t the sisters of the poor like many think we are. We have a great addition to our staff that coaches the D line. It’s year 3 of our defensive coordinator that runs a very complex system. Once the kids master it they can do big things. It’s been long enough so my hope and expectation is they’ve got it down and will disrupt opponents offenses.
Coach Nielsen is a dang good coach. That’s proven. I believe in these guys. My hope and expectation is we get behind them 100% and make the new Dome a living hell for our opponents. My expectation for the players is to play with passion. A lot of it. The kind of passion that can ignite a crowd.
We’ve been waiting for 2 years for this. Let’s get pumped up. I know I am

With all the realignment talk going on, will the Yotes W over the Jayhawks be count as a win over a Big 12 team or a Big 10 team?

This is a huge year for the football program. Hopefully last season's fiasco of a season was an aberration and the program can recapture the momentum they had at the end of the 2019 season and capitalize on finally playing in the renovated Dome, which has the potential to provide the Yotes one of the best homefield advantages in the FCS.
Hope always springs eternal this time of year and I am definitely ready for the season to kickoff and even more so for the home opener. It has been way too long since Coyote nation has been able to gather in full force. It isn't official yet, but the volleyball team is also hosting a 4 team round robin on the Friday and Saturday of the same weekend as the home opener. I plan to spend the whole weekend in the Verm.
GoYotes.

Is anybody close enough to the team to know if we have a heightened sense of urgency going into the season beyond the normal hype? Do the players also feel like this is a big season? I hope so.

goyotes.com had this story about Kody Case finally being back injury free and at full speed. He is a difference maker.

Gee I wonder who that could be lol.

If that poll doesn't sound off any alarm bells in our AD and football offices, I don't know what will.
