Getting excited for Friday, figured I better game a game thread going. Regardless of what happens Friday night, I couldn't be more thrilled to see the Yotes take the field in front of a big crowd in September. Hopefully we're looking at a full schedule this year with no crazy cancellations.
As for predictions, I really have no idea what to expect. We were a bad team in the spring, there's really no other way to describe what happened. On the other hand, KU went winless last season. With a brand new staff and only a month to install their schemes, anything can happen. From what I can tell, they want to hang their hat on the running game and their RBs are supposed to be pretty good ball players. Not unlike us, their biggest weaknesses are the lines. Sounds like their OL was terrible last year but they think they've improved quite a bit up front. Their defense doesn't concern me as much as long as we are able to reasonably protect the QB.
If we let them turn this into a battle in the trenches, I don't really like our chances. From what we saw this spring, I don't think the Yotes are built to win ball control, grind-it-out kind of games. My opinion, our best chance to win this one is if we turn this into a high-tempo affair. We need big plays and to score quickly when we get the ball. Force punts and create a couple turnovers on defense and I think we're in business.
Go get em fellas.

I'm expecting a close game. Kansas is a program that is perpetually lost, and is somehow in turmoil even by their standards. We may not have looked good in the spring but I think anyone can look good against Kansas.

KU's new head coach is pretty solid. If we were coming into this game with the program on a roll I'd be very excited and expect a win. I hope we can come out strong and get a W in this one to start the season off on the right foot.

Like most fan boards they are all over the place in expectations. But I can't understand how anyone involved with KU football can predict a blowout! With that said, they "should" win, but if we don't put up a strong fight, I will be disappointed. This season is huge for the trajectory of this program and we better play like it. If anything, I can picture a scenario similar to Kansas State (an actual football school) a few years ago, but where we don't let it slip through our grips.

Game day boys n girls! As is tradition, the day began with my best rendition of "Fight South Dakota" loud and proud off the back deck. The wife was unimpressed and said I was being obnoxious and was going to wake the neighbors. Our 1 and a half year old thought it was hilarious. Normally, there would have been a beer involved, but I'm still trying to figure out these games on work days. Maybe at lunch time lol.
I'm extremely jealous of everybody that got to head down to Lawrence. I know you'll represent the U well. Weather looks like there's a pretty good chance of storms still tonight. I'm hoping they move through and clear off. In my opinion, we need to be able to air it out and hit the big plays tonight, and rain will make that a little tougher. Defensively, win the line of scrimmage and get off the field.
As always, Go Yotes.

Chance of rain has steadily declined during the game. Should allow us to sling the ball around. Just keep Camp off the ground and we should be alright on the offensive side of the ball.

Listening to the radio call... can I say how happy I am not be listening to Joe Van Snore. Also happy to have Noah Shepard back in the picture.

From an outsiders perspective this has been a pretty boring game. Neither team can sustain a drive but the Coyotes have had a slight bit of an advantage in the play. This is the type of a game where a key turnover or two may decide it.

Camp looks lost out there. The entire team is playing well. D is playing fantastic. Now we can't get the ball out on pass plays. Get the ball out on schedule, guys are open, they've even shown them open on replay.
