I’m on west side. I can’t see up above. If there’s 9000 seats in the Dome, how many were empty?

Looking at east side I’d guess there were less than 200 seats empty.

There weren't too many State fans on the west side. So if you could see the blue on the east side that was it. Mostly concentrated on the north end zone by the landing. Same section as all the visiting teams. North Dakota had just as many in that section and had a similar showing.

I’d say the north section was 85% blue. The next section maybe 25% blue. Then sprinkling here and there.

I'll agree the west side had very little blue from my view. An odd number of empty seats for a sellout though.

I know sponsors had tickets they were giving out. A buddy got 4 from his sales rep. Every seat was sold but may not have been occupied.

Had the replay on while doing some work. (Very productive, trust me...) A couple of observations that I didn't see in person: - The 3rd down spot for the Yotes when going down to tie/win was awful. As in the official running up to the spot then put the ball down a couple feet backwards. It was a first down by quite a ways. - I didn't realize how luck SDSU was with the ball bouncing their way on the TD drive. One was in traffic, right to an SDSU lineman. But the TE fumble - wowza - that was a lucky bounce in both direction and height. - SDSU had 3rd and 4 with 53 seconds, and an all-american RB. Yotes stuffed them, forcing the fateful 4th down. - Everyone is talking about the miracle cure of the guy on crutches. But watch the dark haired cheerleader about a yard deep in the end zone. She knew after the 2nd tip what was going to happen. It is pretty awesome.

It's one of those videos where you can pick out different things each time you see it. Good catch on the cheerleader. She knew and started jumping before the play was even over. Probably a former athlete that sees plays developing and can conclude what happens before it's over.

I sit on the first row east side midfield. Stig was right before me on "The Pass" my observation: Hail Mary - Golden Look on Stig's face - Priceless! All the bunny fans looked like they where watching the Hindenberg crash.

I live in Mn now. Grew up in Vermillion. My Dad played basketball and baseball for the U back in the 60’s. I finally bought ESPN+. That was a great win. The Dome is looking good, too. Quite a change from when I was a kid. There was a basketball game there years ago and thin sheets of ice were falling off the roof. Jack Doyle gave me and my buddies towels to dry the court. Paid us with a Coke. Pretty impressive to see what’s goin on in Vermillion. Let’s keep it going. My Gophers have not been fun to watch.

It is just hard to let this thread die, and there is no reason that is should for awhile. When I look at the replay (like about 20 times now) I saw so many happy fans at the end. The good thing about this happening against the Jacks is that there were people at this game that might not normally show up. Those same people are much more likely to become regulars (or at least go more often) after a game like this. People don't tend to remember particular games but ones with a memory like this stick in peoples heads for a long time and in a good way. Even people watching on TV or people that just might check ESPN and not much else know what happened on Saturday. Even people that haven't been connected with football or USD for awhile look at this with a sense of pride, I mean how couldn't you.
What kind of comes to mind is one question that is kind of hard to answer.
Does the resurgence of the program this year even prior to the SDSU game go further for the program, fans, etc or does the crazy ending against SDSU do more? Obviously they both are important but some nice food for thought. For me personally the entire season to date does more for me but I am not sure for the common bandwagon fan that this ending maybe just doesn't take the cake. The SDSU game is such a big deal for so many people. Both are nice things to have in the pocket when this season ends. I am glad this program gets to have both.

Your team needs to be careful and not have a let down, a lot of them just have a hard time getting up for the next game after this kind of W. You have a great coach in Nielson to prepare the players and rest of the coaches, so that's going for you. To put an exclamation point on this Vermillion Miracle, you guys need to win @ the Manure Pit. I loved watching the guy running with the two crutches!

To me the win over state validates the improved record. Avid fans have been able to see that this team is different, but for many, a winning record wouldn't mean much without the win. Making the playoffs will, hopefully, be another point of proof for skeptics. Unless we get snubbed, having a lot of returning talent from a playoffs-qualifying team will be easy to market going into next season.
