I probably shouldn't post this, but I actually got my hands on the Coyote game plan..... Unfortunately, I can't make heads or tails of it.

Stopped by the bunny board to see their predictions. They may be letting their win over the bison inflate their ego’s a little too much. Some are predicting a blowout win on Saturday. I am feeling very good about coyote athletics this week though, and don’t see their prediction coming in true. Just make sure they keep the music loud for coach stig, I know he really likes it!

History points towards anything but a blowout, but you can't expect evidence to sway the opinion of the deluded.

Hopefully their team feels the same way. Let them come in overconfident and underprepared.

Just checking out their board drops your IQ by about 10 points. No thanks.

With the exception of the UNI game the Jacks have put up at least 20 first half points in every game. In fact scoring like that has at times caused the offense to go into conservative play mode in the 2nd half(only 3pts vs the fluffy cows). The D has had its share of mistakes but they’ve also had several goal line stands. Will the confidence is going to be there from our fanbase, of course. Also a certain level of butthurt losing 2 years ago factors in too. So I believe most of us Jacks fans are wanting a blowout.
I don’t think the team itself will be overlooking the Yotes, or overconfident. The only thing I’ve seen with this team is they like to add a little swagger when a play goes well. Too much for my tastes but they are kids.
Rivalry game, playoff implications, conference record…all this will bring out the best/worst of any fan.

I guess that’s why it’s good to have the smack sections on these fan forum. 😆

The Yote games have gone the same way for the most part. Start out strong and build a lead on the first half, then let the defense control the game in the second. This might be the most evenly matched USD- STATE game in the D1 era.

The rivalry-fans-being-rivalry-fans is one thing. But what I'm a bit amazed by is the national writers (Haley, Herder, B-Mac) who keep pointing to this game as an impossible tasks for the Yotes. They have the Yotes outside of the playoff bubble because there is no way they could possibly win. I do think college kids are susceptible to believing the hype, and I think that plays in the Yotes favor. Both of these teams need a win just to make the playoffs, but the narrative has a feel that SDSU can relax - the only thing being discussed is if they get a higher seed than NDSU - and the Yotes are doomed.
Coaches are watching film. They know that USD isn't out-manned on the OL or DL (which wasn't the case in the past). They know USD can run the ball and the defense is the strength (also not recent history). I'm a bit surprised the writers seem to be relying on history instead of what has happened on the field this season. But again, I think that is in the Yotes favor...
Herder today: Bubble Teams Left Out
Ordered from best chance to make the bracket to worst chance.
25. Rhode Island
26. Monmouth
27. FAMU
28. Nicholls
29. Delaware
30. South Dakota
31. Mercer
32. SFA
33. EKU
(FWIW, Herder also has UNI in the playoff field, largely because they beat SDSU. Apparently it was a fluke that USD beat UNI, as that same USD team has almost no shot to beat SDSU, who UNI beat in Brookings. It can make your head hurt.)

USD would throttle every team on that bubble list. They should really just give the Valley like 8 bids every year to avoid ridiculous blowouts in the playoffs.

All this debate and insinuations on both sides is just noise. The USD players KNOW this is a winnable game. This would NOT be an upset if the Coyotes win

Last comment: You want to know who’s wearing the potential “choke collar”? The Jacks. When they lose they now HAVE to beat North Dakota to get in. Not a given. Likely? Yes. A given? Nope
