South Carolina was the best and deepest team USD has ever played. Their depth may be the best I have ever seen. I felt like their defense was suffocating to the end. Liv played out of her mind and without her it would have been even worse. The women should be battle tested for the rest of the noncon. Thanks to USC for coming to play, much respect to that program. In your mind are you ok with a 30 point loss?

So 0-2 with a 30 point loss to SC is coming out of the gates fast, uh ok. You said you expected a fast start. I was just trying to politely tell you that expecting a fast start with that non-conference slate was foolish.

OK not many thought that the Coyotes would beat South Carolina but I bet there wasn't one person that predicted anything close to a 30 point loss. The Coyotes were a few spots ahead of Oklahoma in the "receiving votes" category but they lost that one at home. I would say in both games the team underachieved. This is an experienced team lead by seniors so expecting them to play better than they did out of the gate is not unreasonable. The expectation and hope is a first round win at the NCAA tourney. Based on that expectation the Coyotes have come out slow. Of course this isn't the end of the season and no one is giving up on this team but lets call it like it is. The Coyotes have not been very good so far, and I emphasize SO FAR. By the way this SC team is good but they are not the U-Conn teams that won about 7 national titles. That U-Conn team was heads and shoulders better than every other team. It remains to be seen how good this SC team is. I believe there are likely a small handful of teams at their level. I would say the defending national champs Stanford Cardinal are likely at their level. U-Conn as well.

There are a lot of teams in this conference that would give their left nut for one of our big three, let alone three of them. Chloe and Hannah will have better games, and so far Liv is playing closer to an MVP than a second-team all-Summit player.
Is it really surprising that we haven’t yet seen a lot of bench contributors in the type of early games we’ve had? When we get even an average shooting day from Chloe, Hannah, Maddie and Kiah, our offense will look quite a bit different.
Maybe today.

Is it really surprising that we haven’t yet seen a lot of bench contributors in the type of early games we’ve had? When we get even an average shooting day from Chloe, Hannah, Maddie and Kiah, our offense will look quite a bit different. Maybe today. It really is about expectations. If the expectation is to just finish first or second in the Summit than yes we probably have nothing to worry about. If the expectation is to win a tourney game than I would say there is reason to worry about how things have gone SO FAR. It is looking like an at large big is becoming a lot more unlikely than likely unless things turn around quite a bit. It is looking like it is going to come down to winning the Summit tourney. The Coyotes have gotten quite a bit better at that recently so it is certainly possible but in that darn Denny beating the Jacks with a full crowd is more than difficult to do. I have no doubt that the Coyotes are gonna be good within the league. If the goal is to get an at large bid than this part of the season is vital and there isn't a lot of time to wait for the team to play better because if they don't starting tonight than the at large is unlikely. Considering how the Coyotes have matched up against teams like Oregon or anyone that would be a top 4 seed it is going to take getting a better seed. The loss to OU and the uncompetitive game against SC just make it less likely to get a good seed at the NCAA's. Of course things will likely get better but then if the Coyotes make the tourney they are looking at possibly playing an Oregon team that isn't gonna be a good matchup. Maybe just Maybe my expectations are too high and unreasonable, but then if that is the case than the teams expectations are also unreasonable as well. They have made it known that their goal is to win a first round tourney game so as a fan base should we have the same expectation.

To be completely fair, Clemson did get beat at home by a Columbia team that went 8-6 in its last Ivy League season.
