Which women's team will be the first to cancel due to covid protocol during the week of their trip to play the two South Dakota schools?

this is bizzaro world- where we cancel/postpone games in basketball and bowl games in football for asymptomatic positive tests of vaccinated athletes, yet we jam arenas and stadiums full of people to see said athletes regardless of fans testing or vaccination status.

I have to agree. The NCAA wants to have two separate sets of standards. One very stringent version for the programs and an extremely lax version (non-existent) for fans. I understand that pragmatically speaking, if the NCAA tried to go back to enforcing masking, social distancing or mandatory vaccination for fans, ....there would be a massive backlash that the NCAA just doesn't want to deal with politically (or financially). They don't have the stomach for it. But if we are being pragmatic, let's also realize that we are no longer controlling the spread, if the general public doesn't care anymore. Let's stop putting an unfair burden on athletic programs. At least ease up a little on the zero-tolerance stuff.

How many college athletes have been hospitalized? How many deaths?

The only way we are getting back to normalcy in terms of athletics is for people to accept that this isn't going anywhere and to be realistic about what it means to test positive. Most people testing positive are hardly even sick, but we have to postpone games.

Pretty much any American who has wanted to be vaccinated has had an opportunity. Those who won't do it at this point probably feel pretty strongly about it. It's pointless to try to continue saving people from themselves at gunpoint. 90 to 95% of those hospitalized and in the ICU at Sanford Health for Covid right now are unvaccinated. Honestly I'm simply done caring about it if they don't care. If people want to put themselves at risk now, knock yourselves out. It sucks for the overburdened health system, but at least they have now had a couple of years to adapt. My elderly parents have gotten the shot, so that was my biggest concern. Also, the Omicron variant is so contagious, that's really what we are seeing in the NCAA right now. Programs have done really well up to this point staying clean. Things have changed. The NCAA will have to either back off with the cancellations, or basically cancel the whole season. Luckily, it seems to be less virulent now, so at least there's that...

Cancel the season or change the protocols. That's basically what this will come down to.

I was prepared to see two losses this week and an absolute meltdown on the board. What a pleasant surprise.

I was prepared to see two losses this week and an absolute meltdown on the board. What a pleasant surprise. North Dakota trip is always a tough one, but I thought we had a good shot at UND. Bonus: it's supposed to be below zero this weekend in Vermillion so imagine how cold it would be in the frozen hell that is North Dakota. Dodged a bullet there.

Imagine if the Women's game gets postponed in Vermillion and they only play the one in Brookings or better yet play 2 in Brookings. I imagine my head would probably implode if that were to happen.
I do agree that with the invention of the vaccine that everyone should kind of be on their own now. If someone doesn't get vaccinated and there is a legit medical reason why than they just have to stay home and take more precautions. If there is any other reason than f**k em.

That was my first thought too. "Well there goes our home game with state. "

The Yotes lost the regular season title on percentage points last year. This year, they need play games to get ready for SLT - cancellations really hurt teams who are trying to gel and figure things out.
