I really don't care all that much that we got beat. Sure, it's SDSU and sure, you always want to win those games, but I'm a serious proponent of the "third time's a charm" theory. If we would have had to beat them three times in a row to get to the NCAAs it would have been a serious stressor. As has been said this can refocus and reenergize.

Losing to the Jacks is never never ever a good thing. Especially considering the chances of an NCAA tourney berth and winning a first round game went down not up.
I am surprised how ok that this board seems to be with getting swept fairly badly by SDSU.

The fire/edge/urgency has been missing since the first round in Vermillion. Many of us are optimistic this loss (or any loss) will snap them out of it. That isn't being OK with losing, but rather a recognition this team needed a jolt. Time to get dialed in.

No. But if I have to pick a team it’s going to be them. Why? Because they’re the only team that’s by our side in the net/rpi/etc. Our at large chances are decreased but not dead. I expect Creme in his next bracket (if he lists SDSU as the AQ)to list USD as a 10. And it he doesn’t oh well, for years it’s been about the trophy and still is, go win the tourney.

jacks made the shots when needed. its hard to win in the barnyard, think the yotes have the advantage in the denny if sdsu can make it this year At this point the Coyotes have as equal of a chance to not make it than SDSU at this point. These teams are very evenly matched but things are trending SDSU right now. The bottom line is that there is no other team that is close to these two in the Summit so it is going to take a big upset for a rematch not to happen in Sioux Falls. I agree completely with this. SDSU and USD have been the best teams in the league since USD joined. There has been a team that has had a great year but they are not as consistent as SDSU and USD. Last year, Myah got injured and SDSU never recovered. This year, they are a deeper team. That is why I still see USD as a top 2 or 3 team next year, even after the big 3 leave. I will have to see somebody step up or one of these teams drop off, for several years, before I see anybody else as a serious contender.

So by that statement I am guessing you are for the most part ruling out USD being a top 1 team and hinting that they may fall as low as 3. There is a good chance that the Coyotes do slip but the biggest mistake one can make is to under estimate the Coyote program. I am not happy about the loss but on the other hand the Coyotes have been having things be way too easy and blew out the Jacks in Vermillion. I think they have gotten complacent and honestly it is hard to blame them. Even without the big three no other program has proven to be able to take one of the top 2 spots. Dawn is going to have her work cut out for her. I really only see Kyah and possibly Krull being good players but the other are going to have to step up quite a bit and take much bigger roles. It is going to be interesting for sure.

The coyotes lose a lot but Coach P's talents, in addition to coaching the current team, include identifying and recruiting new players. We might assume that there won't be another Sjerven for a long time, but if there is another out there Coach P will find her (if she hasn't already) and will work very hard to make her a coyote. I think it is dangerous to write off the next season for the coyotes until the next season is over. I would make similar statements about A.J. and the Jackrabbits.

Generally when someone says a top 3 program that hints at 3 being a real possibility. If not the comment would have been a top 2 program. If I said the Jacks should be a top 3 program I am sure the Rabbit board would cry as loud as the fans do for fouls. Why not just say they should be a top 10 program in the Summit since that includes all the spots above it as well and covers all bases.
Lets also remember that according to Jacks fans the Coyotes are always one or two players away from total failure.
They were supposed to fail after losing the following players
Hegge, Seekamp, The Hoffmans, The Arens, Duffy etc. Somehow the Coyotes ended up thriving after these great players graduated.
The Jacks will be the pre season pick next year but often times when they are they don't end up coming through but most of the time the Coyotes are picked to win they do come through.
Only time will tell.

As long as we have coach P, we'll be a force to be reckoned with. Time will tell.

That loss was shocking.
Not so much that nobody outside the Big 3 can really be relied upon to score in any meaningful way (that's an issue for another day and next season) but 48 points in a half? On just a staggering amount of dribble penetration and easy layups?
Shocking.
Give the Jacks credit, though. If their two freshmen guards come out and basically outplay the Yotes' fifth-year guards it's going to be a weird outing and that one was. I agree wholeheartedly with everybody who has suggested this might shake them out of the recent stupor that they've found themselves in because that one should be a wake-up call.

It is for another day and next season I will agree with that but it is VERY relevant to this season as well. If the Coyotes do not increase their depth they are going to have a tough time winning 3 games in 4 days when the Jacks are the third game in 4 days. IMO neither the Jacks of Coyotes are a worthy at large team this year. Other than the Jacks and Yotes this league is basically a layup for the top 2 teams when they are not playing one another. Neither team in the non conference proved very much when they really needed to. It was bad timing for the Jacks not to have a healthy Selland during the part of the year they needed her.

I actually think I basically agree with everything you just said.
