I don't necessarily consider option 4 as favorable. It admits that he has had bad hands (that is an opinion BTW) and deserves more time. I don't consider that favorable. It doesn't show that he has been a very good coach but moreso an incomplete grade. I don't buy the "he has received unfavorable hands" crap at all. Good coaches overcome. If it makes more sense to you, feel free to ignore all of the "color" aspects of the poll answers. It could have just as easily been "very unfavorable", "somewhat favorable", "neither favorable or unfavorable" etc. That would have been more accurate, but far less fun to read. As it should be obvious, not everyone who votes for option 4 might exactly agree, verbatim and literally, with every word in the option. The writing was meant to add a little color and interest to the question, not to be analyzed in detail. Your response makes me wonder if you have the ability to see the big picture or understand non-literal communication.

This is a good point. Trying to disparage this season's results by focusing on being in 5th place is silly. We are four games ahead of 6th-place Western Illinois (6-10 record), and only two games behind 2nd-place Oral Roberts (12-4 record). That's pretty darn good. Seeds 2-5 are very close in record this year. I agree. In my estimation, this has been a very good season. When you consider the scoring punch and leadership we lost from last year's team, there was a lot of uncertainty. I'm excited for the rest of this season, as well as for the future. I don’t think we’ve been this healthy all season. We have a full compliment of players available at the right time.

He just wants to argue or be Captain Obvious AFTER it’s all been played out.

At the 9:45 minute mark Coach Lee was asked if we should have a handshake line. I liked his answer…
*edit* here's a better link to the Youtube video right at that time-stamp:
for anyone not aware of the background of this, The Michigan HC was upset after a game with Wisconsin recently, and a disrespectful comment by him in the handshake line led to the Wisconsin HC responding, and grabbing him by the elbow to pause the line to talk with him. This set the Michigan coach off, which set all the players off, which led to a brawl (similar to, but worse than the NDSU/ORU scrum). The Michigan HC ended up striking a Wisconsin assistant coach open-handed in the face (Joe Krabbenhoft of local interest).
Also, Coach Tom Izzo (famous Michigan State coach) provided a rant about it recently that Lee references in this interview. I won't link to either situation, but feel free to look it up. I actually liked Lee's answer better than Izzo's, because Izzo started to take a slightly political turn in this comments, referencing training athletes to stand for the flag.
As I have referenced before, Lee is an open book. When he talks about stuff like this, he isn't giving coach-speak or saying what he thinks fans or recruits want to hear. He just strongly believes in teaching student-athletes to respect their opponents, and the refs. Hard to argue against that sentiment.

I was recently reminded that Lee was Summit League Coach of the Year last season. Strong argument he could win it again season, though he won’t.

Damn, with us being 0-7 against the top of the conference this statement by Henrichson is really an indictment on our talent. Anybody who feels Lee deserves COY must really feel he doesn't have a lot to work with.

Anybody who feels Lee deserves COY must really feel he doesn't have a lot to work with. In college athletics a coach is more than just an on court coach. He or She is also responsible for recruiting so that should factor in as well to any COY discussion. I would give it to the Jacks head coach as he is undefeated in the league so far and will likely finish that way. That is hard to do on the Men's side. Whether Lee has done a good job or not is up for debate. What should not be up for debate is that he should barely even be in the discussion for coach of the year.

Yes, it was during Mike Henriksen’s interview of Jay Elsen that I was reminded that Lee was COY in 2021. Mike mentioned that you could argue he should win it again considering the talent lost with AJ being injured and Umude transferring. Mike and Jay both said he won’t win it, that Hendo will win it and absolutely should.
I have said it before and I will say it again. What SDSU is doing this season is remarkable. They’ve benched a legit POY candidate and haven’t missed a beat. We lost 2 POY candidates and will finish 5th in the standings. BUT I think it’s also worth pointing out how much older their roster is compared to ours. We’ve got a roster that’s vastly improved when you see several players who have doubled their ppg average. Thus it’s not exactly an apples to apples comparison. I know this is very hard for some people to be objective about all this. Let’s wait about a week to see how things play out at the SLT. I believe that we have a very strong chance to beat KC if we play them Sunday. Then we see from there.

The nice thing about the wind tonight is it there is no need for moral victories. I like real victories and tonight was one of those. Oral Roberts had a very good crowd and the coyotes could have easily lost this game so I credit the team for really having a gutsy effort tonight. Now it's to the season that really matters the most and we will see what the yotes do at the tournament.
