No point posting about any of that. I hope someone besides kiyoat posts something. Seems like no one noticed what happened today.

I’m in Florida and I made a commitment for this afternoon assuming the game would be at night. Obviously it wasn’t so I shut off my phone and refused to go inside the building where TVs were blasting as I didn’t want to see the score on ticker, or get an email from USD SID, or receive a text. I watched the game in its entirety at 6pm.
I’m so happy for the girls as they are so deserving. Hoping for a great draw in the NCAA’s. What a difference 24 hours make. GO YOTES

Well deserved victory by the team today. Congrats ladies!! This was a complete, gutsy team win and all who played made valuable contributions. Highlights for me were Hannah scoring to keep us in it early, Chloe hitting the dagger before half to take the lead into half, and then hitting 3-5 more (hard to remember #) in the 3rd to extend the lead that we held to the end. Liv made a couple monsters toward the end when state and their crowd were maybe believing they could come back, Grace hit some big runners, and finally the defense by all, but especially Kyah who locked down Selland. These gals are so easy to root for! Let’s keep it rolling into the dance!

Outstanding turnout by our fans at the Denny yesterday. We were actually LOUD. Anyone else in attendance seem to notice the state fans were a bit more subdued in this one? Winning consistently seems to shut them up.
The defensive effort by our ladies was superb. When you put out that much effort on defense offense can suffer, that's what we saw yesterday. Our scorers had enough left in the tank down the stretch to hit big shots and pull away. There were some tired ladies on the court at the end of this 40 minute war. I said is in the hospitality room before the game, if the zebras let us play we are stronger and more physical than State and we'll win going away. They let us play and we'll hang another banner! Go Yotes!

Couple things my group could not figure out during the game: - Why was Selland playing so oddly desperate? She spent half the game on the ground looking for a cheap foul. In 2nd half she went flying in to lane, through up a ridiculous shot and flailed to the ground, but the 2 USD players moved out of her way - literally zero contact - then the Yotes went the other way for a 5-on-4. And she had at least 3 passes to absolutely no one. - I'm sure our SDSU readers can chime on refs, but with 5 minutes left in Q3, USD had been called for 4 fouls, and SDSU 0 (the 5th was called with 3:43 left). We thought for sure SDSU would shoot a million FT's, but they decided to only shoot 3's. Then SDSU turned the ball over on something like 4 of the next 5 possessions. The Yotes were in foul trouble - not SDSU. Maybe we should have booed more? - It was an unexpected and interesting strategy to have Krull match up with Selland when Watson had to sit with foul trouble. The quickness bothered her. - SDSU did shoot the 3 pretty well - 8 threes. But only made 6 twos. That is both good D and the result of a fantastic game plan.

One thing that I think did help our ladies immensely after the tough game Monday, was the longer media timeouts with ESPN broadcast. This allowed Hannah more chance to go out right before the break, and then a 3 minute timeout for even more rest.
I thought Selland was absolutely falling very easily on some of those 3 point attempts. Watson is finally the defender to guard Selland. She has the foot quickness to keep up and build not to get bodied inside.
Burkhard’s mom was replying to Matt Zimmer tweets saying they were getting screwed by the refs and Hannah is a great actor getting all the calls. Classy until the end.
