Coach Pete's track record with big men (Mors isn't a back-to-the-basket player) would help him get to the NBA. Hendo may also be able to help, but I think there is a 0% chance he is coaching at SDSU for 4 more years. Heck, it may not be 4 more weeks.

There's a zero percent chance Mors is going to the NBA.

Mason is now in the transfer portal. That is one I heard would be coming. We're going to damn near have a whole new team next year.

There's a zero percent chance Mors is going to the NBA. This is D1 basketball - they are all going to play for Duke and then the NBA. Otherwise why would they be traveling all over the country in year-round basketball by 4th grade?

Alternative opinion. Going into the portal allows players a bit of leverage in the process. Rather than the coach holding all of it. Maybe there’s a grad school they’re moving to. Maybe it’s a girlfriend who is elsewhere.

Yankton is a pro U community. And it looks like a fresh start with Peterson and everyone entering the Portal. I think Mors goes USD with proximity to home, Bruns commitment, and a chance to reignite that program. The pieces fit let’s cross our fingers!

Can't imagine himself in anything different.

I think we need to be realistic that he's probably not transferring from a Big Ten school to a Summit League school with a first year head coach with a re-constituted roster. Too many unknowns. My hunch is telling me Creighton. Big East program that is a couple hours down the road and which had heavily recruited him already so he's familiar with the program.
But having him, AJ, Bruns, (and Bruns) on the same roster would be pretty cool.

It would be great to get Mors but everything I'm hearing is that it's going to be SDSU. Hopefully that is not correct. I'm hearing we could be in play for David Jenkins. Not sure if that's a great fit with him and AJ but maybe. It will be interesting to see who we start to bring in. We sure have a lot of spots to fill. There is obviously a ton of players in that transfer portal, the only ones I've been paying attention to are the ones with SD connections. What does Peterson have for a staff so far anyway? Is it just him and Kaserbauer working these phones calling everyone in the portal?
Do we have all our original recruits coming in? I haven't heard about anyone decommitting.

Question for anyone with any inside information: How many of these portal entries would have happened regardless of whether Lee was fired or not? Also, would we have gotten Bruns with or without Lee? Just curious. Not that I'm upset for the firing. I just wonder if we should assume all of these players would have stayed with Lee anyway.

It sure looks like Kramer(our only commitment for next year) is still coming based solely on his twitter activity. I don’t have any inside info there. Peterson is going to meet him and family soon. I think Bruns was coming regardless and I also assume some, not all, would have transferred regardless. Also, like Pete said on the coyote report last night, not everyone in the portal is gone gone. When you look at the coaching carousel right now along with the portal, I would say the grass isn’t always greener and I hope none of our guys get burned because it happens more than people think. There’s only so many schollies and playing time out there with hs kids coming in and grad/Covid years.
I think staff takes time. Guys still coaching, opening all over the country, etc. usually irons itself out around final four time with meetings and interviews down there. Sounds like Casey will be staying if he wants to based on Comments in the coyote report.

While I do think the guys liked Lee I had heard for a while that we were looking at having a bunch of transfers and/or people leaving. I've never really heard a good reason of why that was. I think Hunter and Perot Hunt may end up going back to their home countries and possibly play in some professional league. For the one's that are looking at other colleges I'm very curious to see where that ends up being. Maybe they won't be happy with their other offers and will be back, who knows.

I think this will be the normal process for coaching changes from now on. Players can't openly explore their options without entering the portal. Some will return and I'm sure Coach Peterson has an idea of who he wants to convince to stay, who he wants to go, and who might be coming in. This is the worst part. It will get better when we see who is transferring in.
