Congrats to Dawn! It isn't a real step-up type of program that I would have expected, but it has been a pretty quiet year for P5 coaching changes. (I would expect USD would have beat WVU this year.) I'm excited to see who the next coach will be - this job is even more attractive now than when Coach P was hired (facilities, salaries, recent success, etc.)
And.... I can finally say (type) something I've been holding in since Saturday... Geesh, I felt like we were out-game-planned and out-coached by Michigan. We had no answer for the trap of the guards at the top of the key, and that final play was cringe. (OK, I feel better now.) I don't want to take anything away from the team and the awesome run - just something I couldn't un-see as the game progressed.

Congrats to Dawn as you are surely deserving of a power 5 job and will be missed in Vermillion. West Virginia got a really good coach.
Outcoached against Michigan?? Are you kidding me? They extended the trap on the ball screens to make Michigan guard the entire floor and on numerous occasions threw the ball behind for open threes or post touches. Yes unfortunately a few times we turned it over but you are completely wrong thinking we were not prepared.
Last play of the game was tough as Michigan switched that screen all game and did not on the last possession. However how about getting Chloe a wide open shot with 14 seconds left down 2. Unfortunately she missed that three pointer but what great execution by our team. That play USD invited the trap once again, stretched the floor, and threw behind to Chloe who was wide open.
What a great season and thanks for all the memories. The Coyotes will be back next year and have the potential to be a very good team. They surely have pieces and will need some kids to step up. History tells me someone will step up that we would not expect. Good luck Dawn and Go Yotes!

In life, timing is everything. If Coach P had any desire to go to a bigger school, now was the time to do it. She is coming off of an amazing season. She is losing three incredible players to graduation, although the cupboards are far from bare. The program is in great shape, thus leaving it better than when she arrived. She will turn 50 later this year. The West Virginia program, while not dominant, has been successful. So she is not taking over something that would be a rebuilding project. Obviously, the pay is significantly higher. Additionally, I'm sure that she is hopeful that one of her former assistants is chosen for the USD job. If ever there was a time to leave and feel good about it, now is probably that time. She will be missed!

History tells me someone will step up that we would not expect. Good luck Dawn and Go Yotes! Calm down a bit - I think we agree. I'm saying what Michigan did was smart. They took the ball out of Chloe's hands and let our non-shooters take shots - and thus scored 49 points. Playing through the post is just harder when starting the offense from 35 feet away. On the other side, they had an effective strategy to put Hanna in tough spot and try to draw fouls. Again, pretty smart strategy. We won the coaching battle in the first two rounds (USD's strategy was far better than Baylor or Ole Miss). In the 3rd round, I think Michigan's strategy was better than USD's. I didn't mention it on here before because I figured many people would get overly protective and think I was blowing up the coaching staff. (I'm not.) I'm tipping my hat to the Michigan staff for doing a heluva job. And I'm also tipping my hat to our players - UM won the coaching battle, but we were still an open missed Lamb three from, well, who knows.

I think she’s taking her whole staff with her. I wasn't referring to anyone on her current staff.

I think she’s taking her whole staff with her. I wasn't referring to anyone on her current staff. Maybe that former staff member would have a former Coyote Men's DBO to bring along, too...

Calm down a bit? I am not overly excited but completely disagree with your take on the game. If you watched Michigan play at all this year you will see they trap the high ball screen every time. In other words no new strategy employed by Michigan. USD tried to counter that action by having Maddie, Liv, and Chloe come off of the ball screens. Even though it did not always look pretty, the three guards kept their dribble and extended the trap so essentially we would have a four on three on the back side. By doing this we got wide open shots for Liv three times from the arc which she missed, Chloe three wide open shots which she missed, Maddie two wide open shots which she missed, all three made shots for Grace and a few more for Kyah. Unfortunately we missed shots that we have been making on this magical run and I am sure our players wished they had those back. Oh and we also were able to throw it inside to Hannah by throwing behind and dumping it into the post.
Out-coached? We gave up 52 points to a Big Ten team with an All American. Hannah had to sit on the bench with three very questionable calls. Her 5th foul the girl just fell with no contact. It was a complete flop that she got away with but that happens unfortunately Out-coached? We were tied with 30 seconds to play to a team who would have won the Big Ten except they could not make up the Illinois game. Illinois was the worst team in the Big Ten.
Finally I am not sure what this is worth but in talking to several coaches on the west coast they made statements that if you exchanged the coaches for that game Michigan would win by 20 plus. Obviously no way to gauge that theory but I will tell you that the college coaches that I talk with do not agree with your assessment.
Out-coached? I hope you do not speak for Coyote nation because if losing to a Big Ten team who was ranked in the top 15 in the country by three means you were out coached I am not sure we will get anyone to take this job. Our players played their hearts out and our coaches did everything in their power to put them in positions to be successful. Sometimes the ball does not bounce your way. I for one am excited for the future of Coyote Women’s Basketball. I am done with this conversation and I do think you can have your opinion and respect it but I am also allowed to disagree with it by stating facts throughout the game. We do both agree in the fact we both want the Coyotes to win so that is great. Go Yotes!
