Our potential future comes back to Vermillion today. How would you bet? Does Maddie and Kaya come back out of portal? Are they both Mountaineers? Does one go and the other stay?
I’m betting ( not the farm ) they’re Coyotes in 22/23. Guesses? Thoughts?

They embrace the culture they have been a part in creating at USD and build on their legacy as the decide to exit the portal and return to the Yotes.

I’m hoping that they made their plans prior to Coach K’s hiring. The trip was merely following the plan of exploring their options. I’m betting they stay - our program is in a better place; we enjoy better support; family is close by; lastly, they built something here and it would be a mistake not to see it through.

I don't think the moneyline is in the Yotes favor here, in my opinion. I think they both drink the West Virginia kool-aid and end up in Almost Heaven.

My money is on them leaving but my heart hopes I'm wrong.

My gut feeling is they will both be back.

Exactly how much money are we talking about?….
J/k
My heart says USD, but my money says WVU. Flying out there is a big step, IMHO.

7 kids on their roster. That’s it That could cut both ways. Guaranteed playing time, helping Coach out of a tough situation, etc. hard to know.

I just don’t want them to get caught up in the bright lights and shiny object. USD beats WVU soundly

This being Easter weekend didn't generate the kind of environment Dawn would probably have preferred for their visit. I suppose campus was pretty dead, and opportunities to interact with potential teammates limited. Don't know how any of that influences Kyah and Maddie. Just trying to think of things that might play in our favor.

25 years from now they will be part of the memory the fan base talks about. 25 years from now in Morgantown they are “I don’t remember them” legacy. My guess is they’ll stay somewhere in the Midwest list basketball and I would think they’d prefer to come to their home state school to relive the moment.

Of course, I'm looking at this through red-tinted glasses, but I think they'd be foolish to leave. I could see Creighton or Nebraska, but what does West Virginia offer them? Far away from home, complete rebuild of a team that seems to be in chaos at the moment, weak fan support not to mention the state itself is a disaster: center of the opioid epidemic, one of, if not the highest, unemployment rates among states, top three in percentage of people living in poverty, one of the three worst rated public school systems among the states and is the state with the highest percentage of population loss over the last decade. Almost heaven? Doesn't seem like it. Dawn is doing them a disservice if she manages to lure them to Morgantown. I'm also not naive enough to believe that any loyalty to USD plays into the equation. She wants what's best for her and her new team. She's a professional, that's her job and that what she's paid for. In the end, who knows? Hope they stay, but we'll still be around if not.

I'm going to be cheering for whoever dons the red and white next year, whether these girls are a part of that team or not. The USD women's basketball program enjoys great fan support, this region is amazing at how they support women's basketball in general, and we'll continue to do so regardless of this decision. I sincerely hop they recognize that and stay, if they don't then best wishes to them and I hope they find whatever they are looking for elsewhere. This is the last post I'll make on this topic choosing to support the women who are already committed to Coyote basketball. Unless of course it's to welcome the girls back to the program, then I will do so happily.
