It’s time ( past time ) to start talking football. Can we hang with the Wildcats? Will it be a one sided event?
I can build a case for both. I just want to go down there a play a solid game of football. Whatever happens…happens.
I’m ready for the 12 week grind that begins Saturday night. Go YOTES!!!!

I found this this morning. Almost all new OL for KSU, plus previous turnover bakery with Martinez at QB. If our DL can have a rotation to keep guys fresh and eat up blocks allowing LB corps to stuff the run. Maybe we can get them in 3rd & long situations and force a turnover or two. Sounds like they’re defense was stout last season, but secondary is young. Can Camp with a command of the offense pick them apart? Might depend on our ability to run on early downs. This team was pretty damn good last year until Camp got hurt and the dam of depth finally broke in about game 12. A far cry from previous years of falling apart in about week 8 or 9. We’ve got 4 starting OL back, returning QB, and stable of RB’s. Defense has lost some key guys, but there’s plenty returning with playing time. I’ve been wrong before buying into preseason hype, but a major indicator of success is number of returning starters, and we have around 16 starters back. That’s pretty freaking good. Let’s go hunt some wildcats! athlonsports.com/college-football/big-12-football-2022-predictions

I'm still sore from our last trip to Manhattan. Game in hand, up two possessions with about 5 minutes left, their fans were leaving en masse, and then everything went perfectly terrible and we lost. So close to sticking one to old man Snyder on his way out the door.
I'd be more optimistic in this one if they didn't replace Snyder with Klieman. He knows USD and just what a MVFC team can do. At the same time, last year SIU played K State and was within 1 point until the final 2 minutes. Anything can happen, but I expect we won't be taken lightly by a team that looks to make some noise in the Big 12 this year.

We’d already seen them return one but got called back on a penalty, yet we insisted on giving them another chance when they hadn’t been able to drive the length of the field much that day.

The back breaker was the long put return for TD with maybe 12 minutes left. Then on the next possession we got a first down then Simmons got sacked, we got rattled and ended up punting where they got the ball around midfield. They took it in a scored and made a 2 point conversion and took the lead with 7 or 8 minutes to go. Then they actually were driving again when they fumbled down close to our end zone and we recovered. We drove the ball and lined up for a long field goal into a strong wind. Really had no chance but what the hell give it a try. That’s how it ended. My point is we didn’t piss away a double digit lead with 5 minutes to go. But we did piss away a double digit lead in 4th quarter. That punt return broke our back. I remember and illegal block that wasn’t called but that’s gonna happen on the road. If he doesn’t return punt for TD and we hold them on defense, we win that game. We had control till that return. That sucked

I hope I'm wrong, but I think Deuce Vaughn will be too much too handle. We'll need to sell out to stop him and force deep passes. No matter how the game goes, I wouldn't put too much stock in week 1. That team that came so close last time was nothing special. I hope to win, but also to stay healthy and have some guys step up in their new roles.

I do remember their fans leaving, but I could have sworn that punt return for a TD was with around 5 minutes left and not 12 minutes left. The mind plays tricks on you when you drink all day in 100 degree weather on top of a hill a mile from the stadium. I hope we get more hospitality this weekend.

K-states much improved since last time we’ve played them. But it is the first game of the year and I’m sure the K-State players are feeling pretty confident. The coaching staff knows what a MVFC team can do so the question is will they be able to settle down the emotions. They want to go and shock the big 12, and USD isn’t that. I think this game will be closer than the 3% odds of winning that the espn app gives us.

Hello Yote fans. K-State fan here coming in peace. Wanted to learn a little bit more about your guys' team before this Saturday. I believe K-State will win, but definitely am not overlooking you guys. Seems like every year a Missouri Valley team either wins or gives a NY6 conference team the scare for their life. This is supposed to be K-State's best team in over a decade and can't wait to get the season started. Best of luck on the year, and if anyone is making the trip let me know if you need some food recommendations or anything.

✌🏼️Others can probably provide more in depth insight, but I believe this is our deepest and most talented roster in a long time, but we're still pretty young. I love this team's trajectory and potential, but a victory on Saturday would be a huge upset in my mind. Your team would have to totally overlook us for that to happen.

My favorite spots are Taco Lucha or So Long Saloon. Both are great and in heart of the college bar distrcit, Aggieville. On game weekends there is usually a 30 minute wait at the absolute minimum. Really anywhere in Aggieville will have waits, but definitely recommend checking out if you have time. Downtown Manhattan (which isn't far from campus) also has some great restaurants and the waits won't be as long. Best restaurants there IMO would be Tallgrass Taphouse, or bourbon and baker for a slightly more upscale option.

This game is a head scratcher in many ways. 4 years ago we came down with a squad not nearly as talented as this one. We left Manhattan with a 27-24 loss. But I also know your team is vastly improved as well, and many pundits are picking K-State as an outside favorite to win the Big 12. I know that if we don’t contain your running back we are in deep deep crap. However if we do, I then like our chances of this game going into the 4th quarter because I don’t think your QB is nearly as good as ours.
In order for us to pull off the upset we need to play flawless ball. As always in games like this, the “potential” choke collar is on the Wildcats not the Coyotes. But if Deuce runs wild it will be a nightmare game. We have a pretty good offense that I think will move the ball. The big question is our D-line. Can we play with your bosses or not. If so, I think it’s a 7 point game either direction. If not, I see you winning by 24 or more.
Our secondary is pretty good. Our QB’s are good. Running backs run hard. O-line is experience. We’re not deep in wide receivers but we’re not gonna beat you deep anyway. Lining up to be a fun game.
I will be there. Love to interact with purple fans before the game. Let me know.

Agree 100% with this synopsis. If we can manage their DL and OL enough, it will give us a fighting chance. If their RB goes off and they are consistently hitting or getting our QB off his spot, it will be a long long day. Also, don't underestimate Martinez and his ability to run as a QB. That can be a defenses complete nightmare!
Offensively - Get the ball in our best players hands "OFTEN" and in a variety of ways. All of our RBs, Bell, and definitely use the TEs and slot WRs to control the middle of the field. If there is one thing I know, 3-3-5 defenses expose the middle of the field but do a great job of protecting the hash seams to the numbers, so exploit it with your slot WRs and TEs. Take deep shots out of bigger body personnel formations, not 3-4 WR formations because they won't be there with their 3 safety looks. Run the ball in a variety of different personnel and use screens, RPOs and quick passing game as runs also.
Defensively - they are of the NDSU mold. Run, then Run, and then Run again. Hit with downhill runs and a variety of perimeter runs. The Wildcard is having a true running QB. Problem causer! They want to throw when they want to throw, so it will be deep play-action shots, bootlegs to get their mobile QB on the move or easy access throws on the perimeter for cheap yards. We better defend the run well or it will be an unpleasant day for the defense. Force them to dip into their dropback pass game on 3rd downs because that isn't what their QB is good at.
