This will be a big day for Mr. Bouman. From here on out for him, every opponent will have seen game film of him, so...unpredictable moves will be harder to come by. Good luck in the ice castle. Do coyotes and penguins coexist anywhere in nature except the MVFC?

Do coyotes and penguins coexist anywhere in nature except the MVFC? Agreed 100%. I’m guessing the true RPO offense is out the window. They might show it, but I’m pretty certain the QB isn’t running much. Camp would take off occasionally, but I don’t think Bouman can scramble much. Probably quick throws and more pro style if the O line can pass protect a little better. Gonna make for an interesting 4 games. I personally think, and get the same from people I’ve spoken with that the whole OC mess (which apparently started before K State) really put him in a bad spot with some parts of the team and coaches. I’ll be curious to see if he and other kids hit the portal when the season ends. I watch a lot of other college football games on Saturday nights and I doubt he’d have a problem finding a new place to play. There’s some pretty bad QB’s in the college football landscape. I’ve watched a few Iowa games and Petras is abysmal. I think both our QB’s could play there right now. Probably Nebraska too. I think he’s got enough talent to land somewhere else and probably be fine. Could be he needs a change with a new coach and surroundings too. That happens in sports. We hear about it all the time. But, this is where we are right now and hopefully the QB change leads to a win! Go Yotes!!

If it happens, it happens, but no need to advocate for it. Next season has a chance to be a really good one if this extremely young team sticks together. Not to mention that the portal has turned out to be a mistake for a majority of players that enter.

Do coyotes and penguins coexist anywhere in nature except the MVFC? Granted there isnt much out there right now on Bouman, I gotta think we are harder to game plan for with him back there in the long run. in very limited snaps, he showed he can keep his eyes up and throw it down field- something that has been Camps downfall this year. We had a 3 game stretch between ndsu and Illinois state where we exclusively ran a variety of screens, short passing, and a higher run mix that we are used to. I still expect a health run mix with the success we have had there at times, but I think we become much more dynamic in stretching the field with Bouman. the throw he made on the run down the east sideline that was a foot overthrown is the kind of stuff that excites you about him- Big, accurate arm- we will just have to see if he can sustain reading defenses and going through progressions throughout a game when the pockets are not as clean, down in distance, etc.

But, this is where we are right now and hopefully the QB change leads to a win! Go Yotes!! RPO has nothing to do with a QB's running ability. It stand for: Run Pass Option. It's about making pre/post snap reads on what the defense is doing and whether to run the ball or throw it based off of those reads. In my humble opinion, it seemed Camp was struggling with decision making this year, for whatever reason. Sometimes it was his fault, often times it might not have been (OL, playcalling, OC resigning, etc.). Either way, he didn't look very confident and neither did the team. Enter Bouman and the whole thing flipped. maybe it's just pseudo energy brought on by the QB change on homecoming(All struggling teams love a back-up QB). All I know is things seemed to run much more cohesively after Bouman came in. His decisions seemed crisp and correct (barring the zone read QB keep on 4th and 1) and the offense was moving the chains and scoring points. That's something we hadn't done all season up to that point. Whether we run RPO, or something else, it seems like the team is behind Bouman and brings a different energy when he's out there.

... Do coyotes and penguins coexist anywhere in nature except the MVFC? Well actually... (please skip the following post if you are not into biology/ecology, or long posts, or maps)Answer: Not yet, but it could be the case in the future. The Coyote's original range was the American west, extending a little into Canada and Mexico. They are an open-country species, and don't do as well in heavily forested areas, or areas where Mountain Lions and especially Wolves are common. They ARE, however, highly adaptable to human-dominated landscapes. So as North America was "tamed" by Americans, Canadians and Mexicans, The Wolves and Mountain lions were removed from vast areas, the dense forests were removed and thinned, and conditions were perfect for opportunist small mammalian predators/omnivores like Coyotes, Raccoons, Opossums and Skunks (all of which have expanded their ranges). These animals all have thriving "urban" and sub-urban populations now. Coyotes are now found throughout almost all of North and Central America, all the way down to Panama: Biologists think that they are on the verge of invading South America, if they can get through the dense jungles and Jaguars of eastern Panama.... (Article Link)
... And there are Penguins in South America. The Humboldt Penguin is found on the Pacific coasts of Peru and Chile (and occasionally as far north as Ecuador), and the Magellanic Penguin is found along the coasts of the southern (Antarctic) parts of Chile and Venezuela. Here's the Humboldt Penguin's range. (note: Panama in the top of the picture, west of Columbia)So I guess you could say it's fitting that IUPUI (Jags) and ISUb(Sycamores) stand between USD(Coyotes) and YSU(Penguins).... Sorry, all. Couldn't contain the Biology lesson and dad joke. Carry on.

RPOs are one thing, I wonder if Bouman has any option game? IMO Camp could not sell it and almost immediately pitched out of it. If Bouman isn’t a threat for running period then I guess the option will get shelved. Or sprinkle in Stenstrom for that kind of thing.

Big opportunity for this team today. Winning out to have a playoff shot (no guarantee) is a tall task, but I know I'll be feeling optimistic if we take care of business today. Momentum is a powerful thing and a win today can help get this team feel like it's running downhill the rest of the way.
