Do we know who will be sliding over to the HC chair for this one?

This would be a good win if we can beat them. They are a good team. They beat #21 Oregon 69-56, lost on a 3 at the buzzer to #24 San Diego St. I'm also looking forward to seeing the kid from Tea play, Justin Hohn. Being that he is out in California I haven't heard much from him since he graduated from Tea (played with Noah Friedel). I thought he was really good in high school (very athletic) as far as I know USD and SDSU didn't offer him. It doesn't appear he starts, but I think he plays quite a bit.

Do we know who will be sliding over to the HC chair for this one? Sharing duties. Defense specialist calls D. Offensive specialist calls O. They’ll designate pregame the one coach refs can talk to

Neither Justin Hohn or Noah Freidel were recruited by SDSU or USD. Craig Smith used to text with Noah prior to going to Utah State but not so much after. Both Noah and Justin were offered after a Summer Tournament in Las Vegas. Noah by Scott Nagy at Wright State and Justin by the Anteaters of Cal State Irvine. Both would have gladly played at USD and playing together on the same team was intriguing to them.

Probably safe to say Carcoana won't be available for this one. Tough week for Coyote basketball.

Pretty good half. Aj definitely does not have his legs on his shot but we get better shots when he is in the game. Good shooting half for Bruns.

This just in. We really need some size.

And somebody that can make a shot. Poor shooting team. Another game with FG% in the 30's. Not going to win many of those.

Perspective from watching the game. UCI is probably better then anyone we'll see in the league. Good size and athleticism and good perimeter players.
It's one of those games we wouldn't win unless AJ absolutely goes off. I don't think his legs are letting him be that player right now and we weren't able to step up in other areas. We hung with them for 35 minutes and then the lid went over the basket.
Defensively we struggled with their length and speed. We have up a lot of easy buckets inside and didn't challenge enough on the perimeter. Intensity could have been better but being undersized all over really hurts. It looked like we flat ran out of gas about 10 minutes into the second half and they extended to an insurmountable lead.
We are what we are. UCI is probably just one step below some of the good valley teams so a loss isn't all that surprising. We aren't big , athletic, or deep enough to compete with a team like this unless we shoot the lights out from outside, ala BYU. Brostrom needs more minutes if he can commit on the defensive end. He can really shoot. He has a bright future. He looked like a poor man's Larry Bird at the end of the game today. We should win quite a few conference games as long as we stay healthy.

I agree that UCI is probably better than anyone in the Summit. I also think that today's effort will win a lot of Summit League games. Some of today's poor shooting, especially around the hoop, can be attributed to the fact that they had a 7-footer camping out under the basket basically playing a one-man zone. Even when we got to the hoop that presence was always there altering or hurrying a lot of shots. Overall, I thought we played hard today. Sometimes the other team is just more talented.

Also gotta keep in mind that it hasn’t been a kind week to the program, there’s some mental factors there as well. I’m still confident that we’ll do well in the summit and if not oh well. The only games that truly matter in our league are the 3 in March. Unlike the womens side an at-large bid is nearly impossible.
