Depth at almost every position (except maybe RB) is an issue. Every time I see an offensive lineman go down I cringe because of the depth there. I’m not sure where they are at back up QB. I wish Bouman wouldn’t stare down his receivers , its clear where he wants to go with the ball instantly. He missed so many open receivers because he’s predetermined. Bob said he played just ok… I agree. Good to see Galbreath getting some targets as well. During Fall ball one of the biggest question marks was at WR. Although we do lack depth, Bell and Martens are the spark of the offense. They are a great compliment to each other . Watching Martens run block is a treat as well. He’s in a scrap every play.

Excellent summation. Defensive line seems to be a position we have a little depth too, but that can go away in a heartbeat. Same with RB, although we have a really nice group, any team can be on their 3rd and 4th RB in a minute. This offense will go as far as our QB can take us and the willingness to get the ball in Martens, Galbreath, and Bell’s hands early and often in numerous different ways. We were extremely efficient when we spit the ball out to them and then tried to pop a run in there once in a while. If we tried to run-run we struggled and got into 3rd and Long situations where we aren’t very good in protection. Use the short to intermediate throws as “runs” to loosen up the underneath coverage. If we do pop a good run, then come right back to another run. I really like this offensive coordinator and think he’s just trying to figure out what our QB and OL can do. It will be fun to watch it develop over the next weeks. Defensively, we just need to keep balling and keep us in games like they have so far. We are extremely basic, so there will need to be some flavor added added as the season progresses, so we are not so predictable especially on 1st and 3rd Downs. But at the end of the day, our defense is very well coached across the board and has some really nice talent that plays very hard and fast. Fun to watch!

FCS polls are a joke, always have been. Include a bunch of teams in them from inferior conferences that wouldn't win a game in the Valley. The only standings that count are the MVFC and Big Sky standings. Everything else in FCS is irrelevant. Bunch of single bid conferences that probably shouldn't even get a bid.

St. Thomas is still receiving votes in the coaches poll. lol what a joke. And the voters who did/do think St Thomas belongs in the top 25 don't give any credit to USD for completely shutting them down. Explain that logic. I'm not surprised. Just one more thing to point to when discussing how flawed polls are.

Everything shakes out in the end, but I’ve long thought that polls should not be done or made official until at least 3 or 4 weeks are on the books.
