YSU just demolished 6th ranked Southern Illinois at home. They haven’t had trouble scoring on anyone other than Ohio State. This will be a battle. We need to bring our support.

This game has always been a huge pivot point on our schedule. Those who attend need to be engaged BIG TIME.

I simply don't understand those who buy tickets, come down and tailgate and never come inside, or those who leave at halftime. I know, I know, nice outside, catching up with friends etc. Can't have that this week against YSU. Buy tickets, come inside and be loud.

This has shaped up to be a huge game. YSU completely dismantled SIU this weekend. Looking at YSU's collective body of work this season, they've basically played 3 real teams in Ohio State, UNI, and SIU. Their defense gave up 35 to Ohio State, 44 to UNI and only 3 this weekend against Southern. I think we can put up some points on these guys.

THIS GAME WILL BE AN EXTREMELY TOUGH ONE! Just watched their SIU and UNI games, these guys are extremely physical upfront and will challenge our WRs with man coverage. Plus they have an elite WR and a QB that can wheel and deal with the best of them in the conference. Will be on our OC to dial up formations and play designs to spring our RBs and build off it with clean releases for our WRs in the passing game. Better stop the run against these guys because if they are able to do both it will be a long day for our defense and figure out how to bracket and take away that WR and make the QB go to option #2. Should be a fun one for sure.

Overall, this has the potential for a very close game. YSU is better on the ground, both offense and defense (#1 rush defense) USD is better in the air, both offense and defense (#2 pass defense) Both teams have great red zone defenses, and inflict a lot more sacks than they take. USD is the more disciplined team in terms of turnovers, and I think that will be a factor. From the looks of the 2 deep, it looks like we are pretty healthy. Ellingson still isn't listed on the 2 deep, but Coach Nielson said on the Coyote Report that he hopes he is ready to go by this Saturday.

I was just looking at the seat map for ticket purchase, and trying to estimate the number or percent sold. I don't know how many will be in the band/student section, so I assumed 1/2 full there. Came up with 5,250 to 5,500 (57% to 60% full). I'll guess that there is a certain number of walk-ups, too.
home games so far:
St Thomas.....6126 (67%)
Lamar...........5618 (62%)
Murray State. 7907 (87%)
I hope I'm wrong and we sell the thing out, but I'm thinking we will be closer to the St Thomas game than the Murray State game?

I am expecting an excellent college football game this Saturday.
YSU has an extremely physical defensive front. They will aggressively work to stop the run and put pressure on our QB. The winner of the battle between our OL and their defensive front will win this game. This needs to be our OL's best game to date. I believe they can do it. Big boy football - I love it!
