MVC Preseason POY Grace Boffei (6-1 Junior Forward) has been the Panthers' leading scorer, averaging 16.4 ppg! She also leads the team in FG% (48.4%), Free-throw attempts (7.0/game) and makes (4.0/game), Rebounds (7.8/game), and Blocks (0.8/game). She also leads the team in Turnovers (2.4/game) and Personal fouls (3.2/game). Safe to say she is touching the ball a lot.

UNI's lone win is against Green Bay, who beat Creighton and Washington State, so they're definitely not coming in as a normal 1-4. This is going to be a real test and another nice measuring stick game.

With the tough schedule UNI has played, it's hard to look at their team stats and get a fair picture, especially the bad stats.
But it DOES look like they are a team that likes to put up a lot of arc shots (similar to us):
UNI 3PT Attempts: 23.6/game (#64 in NCAA) USD 3PT Attempts: 20.0/game (#154)
UNI 3PT%: 29.7% (#192) USD 3Pt%: 30.7% (#167)
We might be a little better at defending the arc, though.
UNI 3PT% Defense: 32.4% (#245) USD 3PT% Defense: 22.6% (#20)

Turnovers.... *sigh*
USD's turnover stats are some of our worst team stats (other than offensive rebounding)....
Turnovers per game 17.70 (#226) Turnovers forced .....13.29 (#321) Turnover margin ......-4.43 (#319)
UNI isn't great there either, so I think this is actually a decent matchup for us. They are forcing only 12.20 turnovers (#337). They DO have better ball-control, though. They only commit 14 turnovers a game (#58).

I have almost no use for a subscription dedicated exclusively to Summit League athletics even if it works flawlessly. And this thing works about 15 percent as well as ESPN+ (which is far more expansive) in my experience. All having a Summit League Network has done for me is drastically cut back on the amount of Coyotes and Jackrabbit basketball I watch ... so I guess my wife loves it?

Yep, if having less people watch their games was the goal, it's been accomplished.

We have the Midco sports app. Watched tonight and had Thayer doing the audio. Worked fine for me.

There are pluses and minuses. For me, I love being able to watch Coyote road games that in the past were locked behind individual paywalls at Denver, UND, NDSU and SDSU. I also like the option of replaying games. Those older games are kept available longer than they were on ESPN+.
But it does suck to keep multiple subscriptions, since Coyote football is on ESPN+

I am very curious how the money to eyeball ratio is working out for Midco and the member schools on this plan and if what I feel has to be less overall exposure for the conference is worth it.

I am very curious how the money to eyeball ratio is working out for Midco and the member schools on this plan and if what I feel has to be less overall exposure for the conference is worth it. I'm certain the conference and schools are crunching the numbers... whether we hear about it or not. I mean, the four schools who had their own in-house paywalls had to agree to forgo that income, and still produce the same product (broadcasts). So I have to imagine it is some kind of profit-sharing model, where the Summit gets a cut of the subscription income and re-distributes it to schools in some way. That's good news for schools like USD, who provided the broadcasts free and will now be getting some of that money back. As far as money-to-eyeball ratio, who knows? I have a feeling that a lot of Summit basketball fans are willing to pay for all-access. IDK. UND, NDSU, SDSU and Denver fans are already used to paywalls. When Midco Sports actually does the broadcast the quality is excellent. Could be much worse. Some small conferences have to settle for FloHoops, especially for non-revenue sports. Hell, the Big East has FloHoops for women's VB and Hoops. And that's the conference with UConn in it! Shameful.

Another thing to consider is that just because a game is one of the thousands on ESPN+ doesn't mean that a lot of people outside of Summit fans are watching those games. The times when national exposure is most important, IMHO, is in the non-conference and at the end of the season in the tournaments. A lot of those games will still have national coverage anyway. CBS Sports is a better partner than ESPN for college basketball, too, since the NCAA's are covered exclusively by CBS affiliates. JMO.

But the loss of eyeballs has to be made up for in dollars. Otherwise there's no reason to do it. I've gone from being literally the largest consumer of Summit League men's and women's basketball that I know over the last decade to having watched a couple SDSU men's games, one UND men's game and bits and pieces of the USD women this season. And I have a feeling I'm not alone.
