Here’s my concern with our now and future. Right now we are mid to bottom half of the summit. Ironically I think we were better last season when you compare the situations side by side. But that’s now two seasons in a row of us being out of sync with our prior culture and traditions. That doesn’t set us up particularly well for getting the local and regional culture changing recruits we need. It didn’t hurt us last year but two years in a row could start to. How do you sell recruits on coming to USD? we’re not the league standard bearer anymore besides programs at the school what can we offer them in terms of an experience as a player? At the end of the day the best recruits are gonna go where they think they can win and play meaningful games. No one is looking at us and saying that extremely confident right now.
As others have said the reason some, myself included, are refusing to accept that we probably have some of the leagues worst talent is because our program is not used to this. A decades worth of work has essentially been erased. Now this season could still turn around and we all be shocked but we’re gonna need some miracles.

I don't know that we have to swing to the extreme of "we probably have some of the league's worst talent."
I don't think it's that dire, but yes, you're a long way from where you used to be. That's just reality. This staff has got to find the next "ones" because currently the program lacks the kind of game changers that it has grown accustomed to having over the last decade or so.

I'll jump into the fire, just because it is cold outside. It seems to me that much of the angst from the fanbase could be mitigated if we really knew what it was this staff is trying to accomplish. We knew Coach P wanted positionless players who could shoot, but the only way you saw the floor was a commitment to defense (so we didn't expect offensive explosions). We know Coach Pete wants to be the tallest team in the league, and then mold that size into GATA, etc. (the size is there - though some of it is very young - but we are frustrated by the lack of GATA). As fans, we could then see if there was progress made towards that vision.
I really have no idea what type of system or player Coach K is looking for, or what type of program she is trying to build. The recruiting thread is full of 5'7" guards from small towns that are not highly recruited. I can't tell if progress is being made towards anything in particular. A bit of clarity would likely calm down the fans.

Most of the recuits were bought in by coach P injuries have keep a couple players from playing this year. Coach K has bought in some portal players. Next year is her first class. We have a 6-1 and 6-2 girls coming in. 25 class has 2 guards who are rated high. Oral Roberts used the portal to build a team so that is a option

ORU was beaten by the Tommies on a last-second shot today but the two players who killed the Yotes on Thursday went 11-34 and 1-11 from deep.

I definitely have serious concerns about the direction of both basketball programs.
