OK, again, I don't disagree with anyone *philosophically*. But to everyone who says it should happen...do you *think* it's going to happen, and who do you think, of my projected starters, isn't going to start?

I for one have hope for at least one of the Coons/Wilke pair to earn a starting spot. Hillman is a possibility as well. Mazurek is limited in back to the basket post play, not a great rebounder or defender. Hillman is DPOY in her conference JC so that's a start. Both tall freshmen had around 19 offers each, can handle the ball and are offensively skilled. I think Wilke earns a spot over Hempe if Wilke's defense is there. Just not sure if Coons will be 100% coming off the knee injury last summer. Duffney certainly has flashes of greatness but consistency eludes her so far.

I think it is difficult to project too much about next years team without knowing how much each improves over the off-season. That being said, we had 2 players on this years roster, Grace & Carley, that by the end of this season were consistently playing at the level needed to compete at the top of the Summit League. This isn't intended as a criticism of the others who played significant minutes, as they all did some good things at times. This is a huge offseason for the team; returners, transfers, recruits and coaches. Hopefully we put a much improved team on the floor next year as I am already looking forward to it.

My comment was more around playing time/rotation. I don’t really care who starts to begin the year- more interested in who our final 5 are come March end of games. If we want to be better than this year, we will need newcomers(not in the rotation this year) to have significant impact. I agree klosterbauer is who I’m most interested in seeing healthy- along with the 2 freshmen. Unsure what we will get from coons year 1 coming off an acl injury. Hell I could see kieffer breaking into the starting lineup. She was one of the few players that has the foot speed to move on defense this year, along with Ambrosi.

Before I answer, let me just clarify that I prefer to think of things in terms of playing time minutes versus starts. A good coach starts who they believe is most likely to be calm, controlled, and able to set the tone of the game. A disastrous start must be avoided. Now, I think Holmes and Duffney are the next most likely leaders in minutes, but that’s not guaranteed. There’s too many what ifs this off-season. What I do know is that we will be deeper, more talented, and more athletic overall.

One player no one ever mentions who will be coming back is Cassidy Carson. I am not saying she will start, but a 6’1” guard who seems pretty athletic could have a huge impact on D. My memory fades, but it seems like she blocked a few shots in her first year.
Starters - besides Grace, I would guess Carley. But beyond that, Marurek is likely, maybe Holmes, maybe Kieffer. Maybe the new transfer. But I would expect and hope that Addison gets a lot of minutes if healthy. She could set a new Coyote record for threes. I do hope the freshmen are so good that they start.

Whoever shares the backcourt with Holmes and Grace better be able to defend. As far as freshman coming in I think it’s far fetched to believe they will do anything other than possibly carve out a supporting role year 1(and if it’s more it’s probably a bad sign for how we are finishing in the summit next year). I think of Brooklyn meyers and timmer from sdsu and their freshman roles at SDSU, even with how good those 2 are they had bench roles. I didn’t see anyone on this roster who couldn’t be replaced or lose minutes besides Grace.

Other connections with Miah Monahan....Jay Elsen tweeted out that Miah's older sister played at Drake while Kayla was on staff there. And I believe Kiyoat mentioned in this thread that Miah's younger sister is a 2025 recruit. Kayla and Gabby follow her.

Here's hoping she can move. Being just tall don't work at this level. It's not D-II.

Here's hoping she can move. Being just tall don't work at this level. It's not D-II. She seems pretty athletic to me, but I'm no expert. I did find some footage of a JUCO game from this season on YouTube, so feel free to see for yourself (It's the entire game including 30 minutes of warm-ups): She is number 34 in blue. This is one of her eight double-doubles on the season. 32:00 Tip-off 33:45 Chases down a fast breaker from behind and gets the block 35:00 deflects a pass on a fast break 36:35 Gets the O-board and put-back on a fast break 36:50 Steals inbound pass - kicks to teammate when momentum takes her out-of-bounds etc. (I only watched the first three minutes of the game, so that's quite a few athletic plays in that span) Her stats in this game:21 points 10 Rebounds (5 ORB) 5 Assists 5 Turnovers (1.0 A/TO) 1 Block 2 Steals 3 Fouls 9-17 FG (53%) 3-3 FT (100%)

Creighton's Emma Ronsiek, Sioux Falls native, has entered the portal.

Creighton's Emma Ronsiek, Sioux Falls native, has entered the portal. Wow, that’s surprising. She was one of the best players (maybe the best) on a team that is often seen as a perennial top-25 school. I wonder if she is looking to get onto a “Final 4” type team? I can’t imagine she is looking to make a downward move.

I would guess so. If not, then the other potential option would be to play with her sister for Ryun Williams.

Creighton was a senior team it will be rebuilding I am sure she will get a lot of offers from big schools. If she wants to come home we will find a spot
