Gave up 54 points in the paint. Gave up a combined 44 points in the paint in the two previous games. No chance with that number. This is why in another thread discussing the new sign of Madison Hillman I asked the question, CAN SHE MOVE? It seems like all the centers that have been recruited the last couple of years have no foot speed. Height means NOTHING if you are froze to the ground or plod through the paint at the speed of paint drying.

Not a sprinter obviously but she runs smoothly and effortlessly up on her toes, not flatfooted. That's the first thing I look at. I think she's strong, plenty athletic and is going to be just fine.

The Gophers and St Louis Billikens both won last night and will play Saturday in the WNIT championship with the site TBD. Both teams home arena's already had events scheduled so neither is available. I think back to the amazing atmosphere in the Dome 8 years ago when the Yotes won the championship and also the atmosphere in Brookings when SDSU won the title 2 years ago. Really surprised that neither the Gophers or Billikens didn't have contingency plans in place to allow them to host the title game at a site close to their respective campuses.

Illinois won the WBIT last night the WNIT got watered down this year as it had losing teams in it Maybe watered down a little. But remember that a lot of the teams competing in the WBIT this year would have turned down the WNIT anyway. I'll agree that the WNIT field was watered down, but not by much IMHO. I could probably find some data to back this up, … but that's a lot of work. I'm just going by feel, having followed and run stats on this tournament for about a decade. The power programs have largely turned their backs on the WNIT increasingly over the last 10 years or so. I didn't think the field was terrible this year. They have had teams with losing records in the past. I do think that the creation of the WBIT is good for the sport, and so is the continued existence of the WNIT. The overall attendance of postseason women's games this year was really good at all levels! Big game coming up tomorrow with the NCAA final four: Paige Bueckers and UCONN vs Caitlyn Clark and Iowa. Great players with compelling storylines.

St Louis beat Minnesota yesterday for the WNIT title at the SIUE campus stadium (Edwardsville, IL is part of the St Louis Metro area). 69-50 The attendance was just 1545, which is more than St Louis's average draw of 1376, but still disappointing for a championship game. For context, St Louis had not hosted a single game in the tournament up to this point, so I'm sure it is hard to build momentum in the fan base that way. At least the venue was smaller (4,000) so it didn't look so empty:
