NAU isn't bad. state took two OTs to beat them in brooktown. On to WY Friday! Keep battling Lady Yotes!!! That game was in Flagstaff, but I agree with your larger point that NAU isn't a bad team. I have missed each of these games due to prior commitments, but followed along some. Looks like they played a terrific final 15 minutes last night. Wyoming will be a tough task on the road, but the Yotes are only about 5-point underdogs. I'd love to see them pull it off, considering who the next opponent might be. đź‘€ Definitely! Just so everyone knows, If we beat Wyoming in Laramie, we would face the winner of NDSU @ Minnesota in a "Great Eight" matchup....

Also, congrats to the 6 out of 12 who predicted the NAU win in this poll. These girls are playing really well in the postseason! This is a good argument for not turning down postseason opportunities. More practice, more games and more great experiences for seniors and returners alike. This is a culmination of what they have been trying to build all season, and I'm impressed.
I'm not sure what the amount of money we pay in bids, but the attendance has been really good, too.
First game was about 300 below season average, second game was 200 below. If I did the math, I would guess there are very few teams who pull more than their average in the early rounds of this tournament. The Jacks certainly have never done so in the first round. In addition, attendance numbers in the WNIT do NOT include season ticket-holders who don't show up. So I'd guess the "butts in seats" is right on-par or better than our average.

I was going by what has happened in the past. Obviously there are a good number of schools who are excited to be in the WNIT this year. Great attendance numbers. ORU's are fake, but I can't assume that is the case with the other schools. I think this is a larger upward trend of WBB attendance in the country? If that is the case, it makes sense why the NCAA created the WBI this year. They always follow the money. Biggest under-performers is no surprise: Minnesota and Purdue. Big Ten fan-bases not excited to be in a 3rd-tier tournament. Wisconsin didn't even host, playing at Southern Indiana.

I didn’t get to see it but Larkins must have been an absolute machine. What an effort. That’s the kind of game that hopefully takes up some space in the hard drive for next year.

Only 11 turnovers and we shot 27-28 from the FT line. That type of performance will win you a lot of basketball games!

Outstanding second half effort last night. NAU is a very solid team and the Yotes outscored them by 20 in the second half. Larkins was awesome and tons of high effort plays. This is a really good boost heading into the off-season. Particularly when they were playing without 2 players that started most of the year.
The lack of size on this team as currently comprised will prove challenging against Wyoming. Mazurek just isn't a gifted defender, although her effort on defense in the second half was much better than in the first. DePerry is physical and plays hard but she gives up a lot of size to most post players.
But they're playing with some momentum and confidence right now. Should be fun to watch in Friday.

I should have mentioned that. Didn't miss their first free throw until there was 17 seconds left and the game was firmly in hand.

I'm actually not sure if average WBB attendance is going up, but WBB NCAA tournament attendance (and viewership) is exploding this year. They are calling it the "Caitlin Clark" affect.... maybe that is filtering down to the lower tier tournaments, too.

This was a great win and a confidence builder for next season. NAU finished second in the Big Sky and was runner up to Eastern Washington in the final who they split the regular season series with.
The only tournament that I would turn down in the post season would be the wbi, as I said previously at the point the quality of the schools gets too watered down. Not saying the WNIT won’t get to that point but I think even if the WBIT takes off it will favor the P5’s and the WNIT will be more of a mid major tourney. In any case this is much needed.
I do think this could’ve been the team we saw earlier in the season had we been able to schedule tougher in the non-con. We had to work to much out during the regular season. Hopefully by making a run here in the tournament we can get some better non-con opponents that’ll set us up for a run to the top in the regular season.

The Yotes have owned the 4th quarter in their first 2 WNIT games. Outscored UCR 25 to 15 & Northern Arizona 28 to 12.

Any insight on the addition mentioned in Tweets by Kayla/Gabby Johnosn last night? Transfer or Recruit? Feels like a transfer incoming.

We will be able to watch the game vs Wyoming on the Mountain West Digital Network. No subscription fee and they do have a Roku ap. Couldn’t make it and haven’t watched it yet, but sounds like Grace carried the team and wasn’t going to lose. Sounds like some leadership characteristics going on there. Looking at stats our FT were outstanding. Came on to ask how we could tune in on Friday night and looks like I found my answer. Go yotes!
