Where is Holmes? What have I missed or forgot? Her dad passed away unexpectedly a few days before the Summit League Tournament so I'm guessing that she's not back on campus. What about our coach? Was she there tonight or did I miss something there?

I am watching the game. The Vermillion people must have done a poor job of promoting this game. The attendance is sparse. The team should expect a better turnout. It wasn't that bad, but I guess we can always count on you people to try and denigrate USD every chance you get.

We had a lot of TOs and certainly need to focus on improving that, but the TV announcer said Riverside forces 20+ a game.
Lady Yote D improved after 1st Q, rebounding was lights out 52-28! Bench pts 29 to 18 and Hansen's 4-4 from 3 were huge also!!
Focus now on Northern AZ Tuesday. Go Yotes!!!

The Coyote women played a much different, momentum driven game last night. Ball movement, transition basketball, and overall hustle was at a level that I had only seen glimpses of throughout the season. What was different? No Demers or Holmes, and Mike Jewett running the game. What really baffles me is this;
Throughout this season, I've been baffled by the lack of playing time that Morgan Hansen was getting. She was a starter last year when we had few options due to injuries. Like most basketball players, she had off nights and nights where her contributions were the tipping point in the favor of USD. This year she didn't play....at all, and I've kept asking myself why?
Last night she played much of the game, again, mostly out of necessity. Go onto the Yotes.com story of the game, and you'll see a picture of her on the headline, followed by this in the second paragraph: "Sioux Falls native and senior forward Morgan Hansen scored a season-best 12 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from behind the arc in 10 minutes on the floor. She knocked down back-to-back threes midway through the second quarter, with the crowd erupting as the Coyotes led 35-28 before the half."
She clearly contributed in a huge way last night, and I think that had she been given the opportunity to be in the rotation this year, that she would have had nights like this before now.
Can someone please explain the logic behind benching her all year?

Below average, but not bad, as not all season ticket holders claimed their tickets (like me, who was out of town). I thought the turnout was great, given the disappointing season. We were only 300 below the season average, for crepes sake. In the first round WNIT game the Jacks hosted in 2022, they turned out a crowd that was also 300 below their season average. Glass houses, just saying. Many WNIT teams were probably playing in near-empty gyms this week. No reason to denigrate the great local fans who have been showing up consistently for many years through thick and thin.

There were some who trickled in after the intros and tip. The camera shot prior to tip was much more sparse than the halftime. If you have the SLN stream, you can see the early look. I did not intend to "denigrate" the loyal fans in attendance. I am disappointed that you ended up in the bracket with NDSU.

My thoughts on Morgan are this. She never really got over not being the number 1 option like she was at Lincoln. One thing I noticed about her is she would always raise her hand to receive a pass as soon as she got into the game before getting into the flow of the offense. And her defense left a lot to be desired. Always thought she had a ton of potential, but for whatever reason it just didn't happen

Loved the effort. They're motivated to do well in this tournament. Grace is the catalyst that makes this team go. You'll never see a poor effort from her. I'm definitely heading down Tuesday night as long as we don't get a sudden weather episode. Go Yotes.

I thought we had a good crowd and it was loud. We did turnover the ball too much, but luckily for us UCR is really bad at shooting. Our shooting from 3 was not great. Hansens shooting did save the 3fg%. We had moments of good ball movement. Sometimes our bb iq is on the struggle bus. Defensively we have improved. Would like to see us more disruptive on defense i.e. steals; deflections. But to be honest we have to work hard just to keep opponents in front of us. NAU will be a much tougher opponent Tues. night. Hoping to make it and that this weather they are predicting doesn’t hamper a good crowd.
