Northern was fun, Wisconsin was an experience. Time for the FCS. I admittedly know nothing about Portland State but expect us to go out west and put a hurting on a non conference opponent.

This will be their home opener. It’s good that we have a much bigger road trip under our belt. Their score at Weber State is deceptive as they hung with them for much of the game before giving up 24 4th quarter points. They also scored 30 on Washington State. It will be important for us to bring a bad attitude and demoralize them early. I expect us to look and play like a contender for all four quarters.

Need to have a carbon copy of the Cal Poly trip a couple years ago.

Does anyone know anything about the Vikings of Portland State. I can't find much of a fan following online anywhere. No discussion about the game. Everything I've read looks like they're just not a good team with even worse support from fans and the community, which is a shame. Regardless, if we take care of business, this one shouldn't be close. At least that's my expectation.

Don't know a ton about them other than they have an extremely athletic QB who can give anyone fits with his ability to extend plays and arm talent. If they are anything like the other west coast teams we have seen over the years, they struggle to combat the physical nature of the line of scrimmage vs teams from the Midwest because it is not the style they grew up playing. Long trip in a different time zone and stale atmosphere so that always is a concern on how we will handle it mentally.

Enough rumor mill crap about conference realignment. We have a game in 24 hours. Let's go out west, run up the score, and get home. This road trip was never really on my radar as one to attend as a fan, although I kind of wish I was there. Anybody checking in from Portland?

I hope our gameplan is to throw the ball 35-40 times. I know it won't be, but it would be fun to put it on tape for other teams to prepare for.

My guess is we'll run the ball effectively enough that we won't sling it around too much. I'd like to get Aiden enough throws to get into some kind of rhythm in the passing game, but we haven't seen that yet

Portland State will be no slouch, but we have to expect a win if we are going to sustain success. Don't really care how we have to do it just go get a road win.

Just found out the Portland State game is cancelled due to whooping cough on the Cortland State team. So is Portland State going to refund all the $$ I personally spent on flying out, hotels and food to see this game. Plus all the $$ the USD team spent on travel, etc. Ridiculous that this wasn’t discussed and decided before we all left on Friday. On top of that, everyone should have been vaccinated for whooping cough as children.

No. F***ing. Way.
This better count as a W and have all USD expenses refunded. I just read the press release and it said none of the players are seriously ill at this time. This feels a lot like when WIU cancelled because it was too cold for them to practice outside.
Portland State just saved themselves an incredible ass kicking, and they know that.

Sucky news. Unfortunately, with the decision being mutual, I don’t think we’ll get to count this as a win due to forfeiture. Reimbursement will probably come down to contract language and interpretation. Very irritating.

If it was really a mutual decision, we wouldn't have flown everybody out there.

We were out there, we were ready to play, should be a forfeit. Whooping cough, really? What is this the 1800s? How much money is this going to cost our athletic department?

I wanted to watch this game as much as everyone else. However, imagine if somehow a bunch of our kids got sick from this going into MVFC play that would suck worse. It’s the responsible thing to do but the timing is really bad.
