I can't wait for someone to show up at the USD/SDSU football game with "Beat State and Not Your Wife Shirt" and see the bunny faithful flip out because of it. Yes, it is worse than the "Screw U" t-shirts, but this billboard shows how easy it is for Jacks fans to get their panties in a bunch.
You want to see something that will get out of hand....Coach K going to UNC this year...if you have to ask why, well then, that just makes my point.

1) Activity alone?.....no....but the content of that activity speaks volumes. I'll take your word for it that you've never drawn a connection between board activity and fan status. I'll accept your statements as genuine. I've got better things to do than scroll through all of your statements regarding fan/forum/chat participation. Besides I'm quite sure your authenticity is equaled regardless of which forum you visit. Frankly, I'm not thrilled with the level of activity on the SD board but I sure am proud of the content it lacks! "Keep it classy SD"....Ron Burgundy 2) I'm assuming your claim that SDSU will not develop fan interest is not want you meant. What you meant....I can only assume....is that SDSU would never develop fan interest buy putting billboards any closer than 20 miles of Vermillion and making sure that those billboards will not include (reference) a game with an in-state institution. I conclude these stipulations based on the advertising efforts of State in the Vermillion area. So to recap...the mea culpa of SD leadership is violating the 20 mile "classy" zone and including an in-state institution on it's advertisement. By all means I can now see the line has been crossed.....pandora's box has been opened, only inviting the ugliness of old You do see how ridiculous this is?....Please! Please don't waste another second of your time or energy into making the whole billboard-gate into some tide-turning event! I've seen that many-o-jack have taken it for exactly what it is....great advertisement! Nothing more....nothing less! Tough game with Cal Poly...I imagine SD will be facing similar difficulties next year at the QB position, as well as various other positions, after graduation robs us of some great players!

Thanks USD for the free advertisement. I needed a reminder of this event. Thanks again.

You'll never get a Jack fan to admit they are scared to play us. This trash talk could have been put to bed if they would have stepped up to the challenge of the only quality D1 program in the state instead of backing out the past 2 seasons. Have fun at the bottom of the MVFC this year Jacks. Can't wait until the conference makes you play us.
P.S. If we are going to talk about the Wisco game I feel like I need to remind everyone about the Jacks getting throttled by a very average Illinois squad.
Go Yotes

If we are going to talk about the Wisco game I feel like I need to remind everyone about the Jacks getting throttled by a very average Illinois squad. Go Yotes This is a pretty dumb comment but it's your board so whatever. First, any Jack's fan who thinks the SDSU football team would walk all over USD's team is kidding themselves. SDSU is NOT good this year, but it was expected going into the year. They had some major attrition in the redshirt sophmore class (these are the kids that would be stepping into new positions this year). Add on the QB situation (before the year even started) and there's major issues. I actually think USD would have the advantage, but it would probably end up being a closely played game--which brings me to my second point. The entire debate about SDSU playing USD in football is way overblown. It did nothing for SDSU to schedule the Coyotes the past few years because they didn't need that type of game. This is actually where the saying "We don't need you but you need us" actually came to fruition for SDSU. The MVFC is tough enough and scheduling a game like that would take a lot out of the team -- think opposite NDSU's schedule this year. SDSU and USD would bend over backwards for that schedule, but money doesn't allow it, yet. As for the Illinois game, I don't even have a comment. I know a feel people that went and they said it was embarrassing to say the least. Illinois has some very good athletes, but it shouldn't have been that ugly.

Didn't need that "type" of game? By "type" I assume you mean difficult non conference matchup. Why then would SDSU schedule SUU and travel to Cal Poly instead of scheduling the much closer and cheaper in-state school? IIRC you paid SUU to come to Brookings, and then you spent money to travel to Cali.
The offer was made several times by USD. You can see the thread on the scheduling of the Air Force game if you want the story about the lead up to the scheduling of that game. In short, it involved a contract offer sitting on SDSU's desk and their non response.
Still confused about the meaning of "that type of game".

That type of game = A hard, emotional, rivalry game. SUU was terrible back then and Cal Poly was good but it wouldn't take the same toll on the team as it would have against USD.
Plus, I didn't even add that SDSU had everything to lose and USD didn't. It would have been USDs superbowl for the year. What happens if SDSU loses? What does that do for recruiting then? It would have been a terrible idea to play USD at that time. Do I think SDSU would have won? Yes I do. But with that emotional rivalry game anything can happen. -- Look at the NDSU game when they came in ranked #1 and undefeated.
This year, I wouldn't have the same confidence going into the game.

I was talking about this year. The contract on the desk was for this year. SDSU would not respond so we went ahead and took the Air Force game.
If SDSU thinks they still have some recruiting advantage they are crazy.

I still think it was the right thing to do. They received one away game at Cal Poly with two home games. For scheduling that's a pretty sweet deal. And a game against SUU is much better than a game against USD. I was not impressed with SUU.

I’d suggest you guys just cancel the rest of your season with the “What happens if SDSU loses? What does that do for recruiting then?” questions…
Hopefully the SDSU AD has more of a litmus test than “What happens if we lose” when scheduling games…

Yeah, you are right. This wasn't an emotional game with Cal Poly....the quarterback only quit the team afterward... We get it, it's an emotional game and it would be USD's super bowl? Get over yourselves. Deal with it. What do you think a ton of rivalry games are? Sometimes it's a team trying to ruin a conference title chance. Jeez, learn what a rivalry is. Deal with that and let it play out on the field. SDSU fans need to grow a pair sometimes. With these excuses, i wonder why any rivalries exist in their opinion.

Yes. I was there and we kept making comments about how bad they looked. Many other SDSU fans our message board said the same thing after the game. I'm sure SUU has improved since then.

No reason to play USD at that time. Next year, yes.
