That type of game = A hard, emotional, rivalry game. SUU was terrible back then and Cal Poly was good but it wouldn't take the same toll on the team as it would have against USD. Plus, I didn't even add that SDSU had everything to lose and USD didn't. It would have been USDs superbowl for the year. What happens if SDSU loses? What does that do for recruiting then? It would have been a terrible idea to play USD at that time. Do I think SDSU would have won? Yes I do. But with that emotional rivalry game anything can happen. -- Look at the NDSU game when they came in ranked #1 and undefeated. This year, I wouldn't have the same confidence going into the game. Yeah, you are right. This wasn't an emotional game with Cal Poly....the quarterback only quit the team afterward... We get it, it's an emotional game and it would be USD's super bowl? Get over yourselves. Deal with it. What do you think a ton of rivalry games are? Sometimes it's a team trying to ruin a conference title chance. Jeez, learn what a rivalry is. Deal with that and let it play out on the field. SDSU fans need to grow a pair sometimes. With these excuses, i wonder why any rivalries exist in their opinion. Ugh...so you're telling me the SDSU vs. USD game wouldn't have been USDs most important game the past few yrs? And again, I'm not talking about next yr. I'm talking about your transition.

I was talking about this year. The contract on the desk was for this year. SDSU would not respond so we went ahead and took the Air Force game. If SDSU thinks they still have some recruiting advantage they are crazy. So SDSU decides to go division 1. usd bad talks SDSU's decision. usd later decides, "Hey maybe this isn't such a bad idea," and goes division 1 themselves. usd then gets mad at SDSU for not helping them out during the tough transitional years by playing them, forgetting themsevles that they gave SDSU a hard time after their initial decision. Give me a break. My two cents. Good luck this weekend, as well as next year in Brookings.

Oh it would've been, but under your logic, why has Michigan played Ohio State the past few years since Michigan has sucked and OSU has been good? I mean, it's Michigan's Super Bowl, so OSU had everything to lose if Michigan won...so why was the game even played under that stupid logic you bring up. Why does USC play ND since they haven't been relevant in a couple of decades? Under your logic, rivalries are useless. Why did SDSU play NDSU last year or this year, because it's all they have to play for this year apparently since they haven't cared about another football game in the last two years by the looks of it.

We were first to go D-1. Good for you, you did it first. 2.) USD trashed talked your decision, so why should I help "little brother" as they make thier transition? Regarding point 1. At this juncture, who cares. You were first, we came along later, you win that point. Regarding #2, if SDSU decided to build a new public restroom on campus, USD would trash talk that decision as well. And if USD wer \e to do something good to improve its own university, SDSU fans would trash talk that as well. That's what rivals do. They don't cut each other any slack...period. Actually SDSUAlum08 said it best in a previous point. He was honest about it. They had nothing to gain from their eyes, it was only a "lose lose" proposition for them. If USD won the game, egg on face of the Jacks. Recruiting in state, as well as regionally might tip in USD's favor, etc. That was the real reason they didn't play us. In other words, there wasn't enough financial incentive to risk the embarrassment of a potential USD win. Plus maybe USD fans should give Coach Stig some credit here as well. My guess is that we might kick your a$$ this fall, Stig knew it, and shied away. After we lose as many starters as we do for next year, SDSU may have closed the gap or maybe gotten better. I give him some credit. But win or lose, it is wayyyyyyyy past time this rivalry renewed.

My only beef with SDSU refusing to schedule USD is when SDSU pays other FCS schools to come in for a game, or travels half way across the country to play a game, or schedules another former NCC foe in UND and the whole time acts like USD doesn't even exist. That is plain and simple arrogance and it will come back to bite that school in the rear.
We lose alot to graduation next year. These seniors have had some great wins in their time at the U, and they were recruited here when we were a D2 school. I don't think the graduation losses will hurt as bad as some think. The players coming in every year during this transition have been bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic. We'll lose some great seniors, but the cupboard will be restocked.
You enjoy your season this year Jacks, we'll do the same on our way to a conference title. Come next year there is no ducking the Yotes anymore. It will be a conference game, and just like any conference game we play we'll be looking to come in and kick you square in the teeth.

I really don't get how some of you on the board don't understand this. There were way too many reasons NOT to play this game than there were to actually play it. Playing the game 'because it should just be played' is not good enough anymore. Both universities need to think regionally and nationally. The point of the game is to get to playoffs and WIN a championship. Lucky for you guys, and many other people (SDSU fans included), the wait is almost over. The game will finally be played.

Man we do help you guys out a lot.

So once again, your argument is makes no sense. We were talking about THIS YEAR. Your AD had a contract in hand to play USD in Brookings before next years conference schedule. He declined to play. That's where I give Coach Stig credit.

I can see it right now. Anytime SDSU loses to South Dakota in anything of substance there will always be a built in excuse every time as follows...
SDSU standings page at the official website
There will be a win column and a "but we went D1 first" column, instead of a loss column.
All time series record in football at the SDSU website
Wins.......................But we went D1 first
48.......................................50

USD offered to play the bunnies in the Coughing Alumni pasture for $0. The bunnies instead said no and instead paid $150,000 to have Southern Utah come visit.

If so, watch your fanbase "crap" their drawers. Start blaming the 2nd team QB, the line, the coaches, hell probably even the manager. Live in todays world Wannabe. No one gives a CRAP what State did 3-4 years ago. The gap at one point was there...not no more sunshine.
